Camille Cosby Wins Stay, Delaying Her Deposition Against Bill Cosby

Camille Cosby has gotten lucky, at least for now, as she does not have to be deposed tomorrow in the case against her husband, Bill Cosby. The stay is likely temporary, and her lawyers are saying that it is to give them more time to put together their case for the appeal of the decision that she must give a deposition in the case of the women who are accusing Bill Cosby of drugging and molesting them.

According to the Inquisitr, Camille Cosby, wife of comedian Bill Cosby, was trying to get out of testifying against her husband on the basis of spousal privilege. A judge in Massachusetts denied this, as she was his business manager in addition to being his wife. Camille Cosby has also said, on the other hand, that Cosby deserves whatever punishment he gets.

ABC News is reporting that Camille Cosby has gotten a last-minute stay against being deposed in the Bill Cosby case. This is to get her lawyers more time to put together a case arguing against the claim that she must give deposition.

“The charge by the Montgomery County District Attorney’s office came as no surprise, filed 12 years after the alleged incident and coming on the heels of a hotly contested election for this county’s DA during which this case was made the focal point,” Cosby’s legal team said in a statement regarding the criminal charges. “Make no mistake, we intend to mount a vigorous defense against this unjustified charge and we expect that Mr. Cosby will be exonerated by a court of law.”

If convicted, Cosby faces ten years in jail and a fine.

The Daily Mail says that Camille Cosby has gained a small victory by getting her deposition delayed in Massachusetts.

The initial decision read that marital privilege did not apply here.

“Deciding the application of the Marital; Disqualification Rule here is all the more important because Plantiffs have indicated they intend to disclose Mrs. Cosby’s deposition testimony, including her private marital conversations, to the press,” says the emergency motion.

Camille Cosby continues to argue law will render her incompetent to testify later.

“She argues that Massachusetts marital disqualification law renders her incompetent to testify in this matter and that even if she could provide admissible testimony, the value of any such information is outweighed by the undue burden that her deposition would effect.”

The initial decision said that Camille Cosby’s argument had no merit, according to Judge Hennessey.

“I reject Mrs. Cosby’s argument that her subpoena should be quashed on the grounds that it presents an undue burden.”

Camille Cosby alleges that she was not with her husband during any of the alleged attacks, so she has no information to add. Carla Ferrigno, wife of Lou Ferrigno, best known as the Incredible Hulk, said that the night she was allegedly attacked by Cosby, Camille Cosby was in the house and retired for the night.

Sources are saying that Camille Cosby is buying time, and still will have to be deposed in the case against her husband. Bill Cosby is still insisting that all of these women are making up these stories in an attempt to shake him down for money.

Do you think Camille Cosby should just testify and get it over with, or will she continue to try to stand by her man?
