Jennifer Lawrence Talks About Being Famous: ‘I Am…A F—ing Lunatic’

Jennifer Lawrence loves her job, but she can’t say the same for the fame that comes along with it. She admits acting is in her blood, a true calling, but the constant attention from paparazzi and overzealous fans does tend to get to be a bit too invasive. Launched into superstardom with the release of 2012’s The Hunger Games, Lawrence has had a few years to adjust to fame and says she has come to accept this facet of her new life, but she also suggests some time off would be great.

Joy‘s Jennifer Lawrence would love to be able to control when she can be photographed

Jennifer recalls feeling “angry and distorted,” with her newfound fame, following the release of the first Hunger Games film, because she never expected it to change her life in the ways that it did. She thought she would still be able to run to the store in her pajamas or meet a friend for lunch without being bombarded and blinded by the flashes of throngs of photographers. At times, Ms. Lawrence still feels this way, but she says she has the perfect solution. She wants the paparazzi to give her three months of the year. The X-Men actress would like a three-month vacation every year, but not from acting, just from being photographed.

“I’m not trying to be a GIF. I’m not trying to be a picked-up-on-Twitter quote,” the Joy star says. “All I’m trying to do is act. And I have to promote these movies. And I am, at the end of the day, I guess, a f–king lunatic. So if you record what I’m saying, it’s gonna be goofy.”

In spite of those negative thoughts, Lawrence says she wouldn’t trade her success for anything. She says she knows just how lucky she has been to achieve so much success.

Jennifer Lawrence reveals her views on dating and sexuality

In 2014, nude photos of Jennifer were stolen as a part of one of the first email hacks to hit Hollywood’s elite. When the famous actress learned about the leaks, she had to decide for herself how to handle the situation. Instead of apologizing to fans for the theft of photos that had never been intended for public viewing, Ms. Lawrence chose to treat the leak as a sex crime. She says she hasn’t done anything wrong, so why should she apologize?

Lawrence admits that she’s caught herself speaking as though she needed to justify her actions, only to remind herself that she was not at fault for anything. Thinking this idea through, Jennifer begins to speak more generally and touches on her thoughts on dating. The Joy actress says that, regardless of the circumstances of a date with a guy, she is still in control of her own body.

Speaking of her body and her social life brings up Jennifer Lawrence’s current status, which is fervently single.

“I feel a spark very, very rarely. And it’s really only about spark for me. Not really anything else. You should see some of the people I find attractive,” says the actress also known for X-Men: Apocalypse‘s Mystique. “You’d be shocked.”

Jennifer reveals that she really doesn’t date very often, confessing that she may only meet someone she finds attractive once in a year. Her last long-term relationship was with Cold Play singer Chris Martin, and that ended quite some time ago, but Lawrence doesn’t need your pity. She’s happy being single and feels completely fulfilled.

“Yes, when I spark with someone, it’s exciting, but I definitely don’t need that.”
