WWE News: IWC Forced Vince McMahon To Change Mind

In WWE news, Vince Russo stated that the internet wrestling community was finally able to convince Vince McMahon to change his mind on something, according to Wrestling Inc.

At some point in time, Vince McMahon decided that Roman Reigns was going to become the person to take over the throne from John Cena, a company centerpiece for years now.

Not surprisingly, Vince Russo agreed with Vince McMahon on the choice of Roman Reigns because he had the looks, the bloodline, and the intense style that fans are drawn towards.

The hard part for Vince McMahon was to get the internet wrestling community to buy into Roman Reigns, which is hard because he was paired with Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins.

Even though Roman Reigns is a very good worker, Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins were the fan favorites because of their lengthy backgrounds on the independent wrestling circuit.

Once Vince McMahon pulled the trigger on a Roman Reigns push by breaking up the Shield stable, a lot of fans started to turn on Reigns because they felt he was not worthy enough.

At the Royal Rumble in Philadelphia, a city which has historically had a tough wrestling audience, fans showered Roman Reigns with boos when he was the last man standing that night.

For years, Vince McMahon had the reputation of sticking with his ideas, even if the audience showed disapproval. He knew that fans would eventually accept whatever he produced.

The internet wrestling community would not budge this time, however. Their influence was visibly noticeable whenever the general audience started to turn on Roman Reigns, as well.

Roman Reigns was penciled in to win the WWE Heavyweight Championship from Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemania. That was supposed to be his big night. His family was even there for it.

At the end of Wrestlemania, however, it was not Roman Reigns that stood at the entrance ramp with the belt held high over his head. Instead, it was his Shield partner, Seth Rollins.

Having spent years as the lead writer for World Wrestling Entertainment, Vince Russo has some pretty good insights on Vince McMahon and the type of mentality that he possesses.

During the latest episode of his weekly podcast show, Vince Russo expressed shocked that Vince McMahon would allow the internet wrestling community to dictate his story lines.

While the internet wrestling community was able to force Vince McMahon to change up his plans, it was only a temporary thing. McMahon still wanted Roman Reigns as his top star.

Over the past year, Vince McMahon has slowly and methodically convinced fans to change their minds on Roman Reigns. The criticism towards Reigns died down tremendously.

A devastating ACL injury forced World Wrestling Entertainment to take the belt off of Seth Rollins, who is scheduled to be in rehabilitation and off the road until at least the summer.

That was both a problem and an opportunity for WWE. They needed a new champion, and they now had an excuse to put it on Roman Reigns, because there wasn’t a lot of candidates.

WWE wisely utilized Sheamus as a transition champion. The Celtic Warrior was a good choice because fans did not feel that he was worthy, so when he lost, the audience cheered.

Though it took him longer than usual, Vince McMahon finally got what he wanted. Roman Reigns will now see if he can replace John Cena and become the face of the company.

It doesn’t happen that often, but the internet wrestling community finally got Vince McMahon to stay down on the mat for a three count.
