Kate Mansi Leaving Days of Our Lives As Abigail Deveraux

Days of Our Lives fans are losing another beloved star! Kate Mansi is leaving the role of Abigail Deveraux on the NBC soap. Mansi is a huge fan favorite on the show as well as her character, Abby.

Days of Our Lives rumors have been circulating for months that Kate Mansi would be leaving the role of Abigail Deveraux, and now it is confirmed that she’s decided to move on from the show to explore new things, but with Abby such a huge part of the show and the cast already hurting after the departures of characters like Bo Brady, Daniel Jonas, and Will Horton, Sami Brady, and EJ DiMera, will she be recast?

It seems that Days of Our Lives may have put out a “secret” casting call for a character named Val a few months back. We Love Soaps reports that Val is described as being a “gorgeous 25-year-old Caucasian female, who is passionate, intelligent and sensitive. Val blows into town in a whirlwind … She appears successful on the outside, a girl who seems to have it all but … at times she has a fragility and [vulnerability] that gives us the feeling of a painful past that she desperately wants to keep secret.”

Some Days of Our Lives fans think that Val could really be the contract role of Abigail now that Kate Mansi has been confirmed as leaving the soap. Viewers are hoping for a good recast for the character, as Abby only recently had a baby boy, named Thomas Jack, after her grandfather and father, and it was revealed that longtime love Chad DiMera is the father.

More Days of Our Lives spoilers suggest that Chad and Abby will get back together, and Chad will even ask Abigail to be his wife. There is so much character growth happening for Abigail Deveraux that it seems crazy to get rid of the character altogether.

Kate Mansi will reportedly be leaving the role sometime after May, 2016, and has already stopped filming for Days of Our Lives, which tapes about 6 months ahead of what’s currently airing.

Kate Mansi has played the role of Abigail Deveraux since March of 2011, when she stepped into the role after Ashley Benson, who currently plays Hannah on Pretty Little Liars, left the show.

Since Kate Mansi is leaving around the month of May, there is already speculation that something could happen to her during May sweeps to bring her storyline to a close or explain a new appearance if the role is recast. So, it seems that unfortunately Chad and Abigail may not have the happily ever after that fans so desire for them, but then again it is Salem, so anything can happen.

Kate Mansi has so far not commented on her decision to leave Days of Our Lives as Abigail Deveraux, but will likely make some sort of statement or give an interview when the times comes for her to stop airing on the NBC soap.

Days of Our Lives fans have already begun taking to their social media accounts to discuss the shocking Kate Mansi departure, and the consensus is that she will be greatly missed by viewers. If the show does decide to recast Abby, the new actress will have some pretty big shoes to fill.
