‘Jihadi Junior’ Has Been Identified As Isa Dare, Son Of London Woman Who Ran Away To Join ISIS

“Jihadi junior” has been identified as Isa Dare. The young boy shown in an ISIS video warning to British Prime Minister David Cameron is reportedly the son of a London woman who ran away to join the Islamic State. Grace Dare also has another young son, Abdur Rahman, according to statements made by her father to local reporters.

Isa Dare quickly became known as jihadi junior after the ISIS video threatening an invasion by Islamic State fighters went viral earlier today. The video shows Dare saying “kill the kuffar,” or unbelievers, in the video with ISIS militants who appear to execute five men from the United Kingdom who were accused of spying in Syria. The name Isa reportedly means Jesus in Arabic.

Grace “Khadija” Dare, the mother of the junior jihadi, is from the Lewisham neighborhood of southeast London, according to a Telegraph report. Henry Dare, the grandfather of the young boy shown in the ISIS video, told British journalists that he was shocked to see the photos of Isa in the David Cameron warning video and revealed that he is worried about the safety of his estranged loved ones.

“I’m not angry, I would never have expected it. I just hope someone is trying to bring them back,” the grandfather added.

Dare went on to say that he told the police they should “watch” his daughter after she had become radicalized. According to Henry Dare, Grace was a Christian who attended Catholic school until the “fell under the influence” of some individuals and began going to an area mosque.

Grace Dare, 22, shared a photo of Isa Dare holding an AK-47, which was nearly as big as the boy, on social media last summer. The mother of the junior jihadi is of Nigerian descent and reportedly attended the Lewisham Islamic Centre mosque, where the terrorist who killed British soldier Lee Rigby also worshipped. The leaders of the mosque have denied that the two terrorists were ever members of the congregation, the Independent reports.

After joining the Lewisham Islamic Centre, Grace Dare changed her first name to Khadija, according to her mother, Victoria Dare. She fled to Syria in 2012 and married a Swedish man, Abu Bakr. Dare’s husband is believed to have been killed fighting for ISIS.

“I want her back in my life. She is the only child that I have and the devil took her away. I still call her our Grace,” the concerned grandmother of the junior jihadi said.

Grace Dare is believed to be the mother of the boy showcased in the latest ISIS warning video.

While her parents may be eagerly hoping for and awaiting the return of their daughter, Grace Khadija Dare’s social media posts appear to indicate that she has no intention of leaving the ISIS stronghold in Syria. After journalist James Foley was beheaded, she reportedly posted that she had wanted to become the first British woman to kill an Islamic State hostage. When making an appearance in a documentary about “jihadi brides,” Dare said that although she did miss Chinese takeout and junk food, flying back home to London was not something she would ever consider doing. She added that Islam was not an oppressive religion, and that it has made her “free.”

According to the recollections of Grace Dare’s former London neighbors, she was an intelligent young woman with a loving disposition who always had a smile on her face. After her parents divorced about five years ago, she moved away and, during an accidental encounter with an old neighbor she had dog-walked for, she reappeared adorned in a full burka and proudly stated that she had converted to Islam.
