Caitlyn Jenner Publicly Made Fun Of At 2016 New Year’s Day Mummers Parade

Caitlyn Jenner was mocked at the 2016 New Year’s Day Mummers Parade in Philadelphia on Friday. Gossip Cop shared a video and exactly what happened that had to have upset Caitlyn. So far, Jenner has not shared her thoughts on the skit, so nobody really knows how Caitlyn feels about it. This event is on television and is live streamed, so a lot of people did see it all go down.

This event features people who dresse up in costume and perform skits. The Finnegan New Year’s Brigade decided to do one about Caitlyn Jenner, but it actually started out with someone dressed up as Bruce, not Caitlyn.

The city’s incoming mayor, Jim Kenney, obviously didn’t think it was a great idea and tweeted in response, “It was bad. Hurtful to many Philadelphians. Our Trans citizens do not deserve this type of satire/insult. #Berespectful.”

This skit started out with a man dressed as Bruce Jenner standing in front of a Wheaties box, similar to the one Bruce was on many years ago. It even had Jenner on the box dressed in an Olympic suit. The man would then pretend to run and act like he was Bruce Jenner, wearing a gold medal around his neck. Behind them, they were holding up several signs, and one of them even showed Caitlyn Jenner on a box of Fruit Loops saying this was the one for 2016.

All of a sudden, they switched to the song “I’m Coming Out,” and they wheeled Bruce away in a wheelchair. Then they moved on to to the song “Dude Looks Like a Lady” before someone dressed as Caitlyn Jenner appeared. This man was not a very attractive woman and had on a sash that said “Call Me Caitlyn.” People were also holding up posters of Cailtyn Jenner’s actual Vanity Fair cover. After this all went down, the Finnegan organization gave a statement that explained they didn’t mean it negative against Jenner.

“We understand that there will be obvious backlash for what we do as a skit but that’s all it was is that. We are sorry for offending people out there, and don’t want people to think we are against the gays, transsexuals, etc. We are not.”

There was also someone in the group who was yelling out homophobic comments. This person has now been banned from future events, and the Finnegan organization gave a statement on that part as well.

“We understand and take full responsibility since we are Finnegan, but this deeply is sickening someone could say that. That’s not who we are or ever were.”

The Mummers Parade may want to think twice before they allow skits next year. It doesn’t look like they are checking these before they get put out there and cause a lot of controversy. There was also another group that painted a brownface meant to represent Mexicans who were holding “Mummers Live Matters” signs, which are upsetting people as well.

People shared that on New Year’s Eve, Caitlyn Jenner had a very low-key time in with Kim Kardashian. It looked like the perfect night relaxing with family and friends. Their friend Tracy Nguyen was there as well and shared the details of their big night.

“We rang in the New Year in our pajamas with family, friends and a competitive game of Taboo (and yes, the girls won)!”

What do you think of this skit that mocked Caitlyn Jenner? Do you feel like the group took it too far? Sound off in the comments below on your thoughts, and don’t miss new episodes of Keeping Up with the Kardashians on Sunday nights on the E! Network.
