Ellen had a smashing holiday week on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, truly getting into the holiday spirit with her guests. In the lead-up to Christmas, Steve Carell joined Ellen on the show to talk about his new movie, The Big Short, and about the holidays. USA Today reports that Carell talked about his family’s holiday tradition.

“My wife, Nancy, and our kids get into the car around Christmas time and we get a big box of donuts and hot chocolate and we drive around looking at Christmas lights in our neighborhood.”

Ellen asked Carell if he has a station wagon for the family, to which he replied “yes,” but with a twist.

“Yes, and it has wood paneling on the side.”

Ellen also got into a gingerbread house-decorating contest with Carell and it was sticky and hilarious.

Ellen, you cheater. At least Steve Carell got in a tasty snack while he was busy decorating his gingerbread house.

Ellen also had fun with Tina Fey on her show. Just Jared reports that Fey revealed to Ellen that she’s worried her youngest daughter will end up on the naughty list for Christmas and end up with nothing, or perhaps coal.

“My older one is sweet and really easy going and my little one is rough. I struggle because I worry [Penelope] will be on the naughty list, There are times where I feel she should be on the naughty list but then if that happens then there will sort of be hell to pay for Mommy. I don’t want to be the one there on Christmas morning be like guess what happened? Coal, you got nothing.”

Aside from having a blast with her holiday guests, Ellen has been up to her usual kindness, which has just taken on so much more meaning during the holidays. Register-Star reports that Ellen teamed up with locals in Hudson to give Christmas back to a local family who lost everything in a fire.

Ray Lippman and his fiancé Ashley Crandall lost their mobile home and everything in it on December 11. They looked to the Salvation Army for support for themselves and their children and got far more than they imagined. Ellen made a donation of $1,000 to the family in the form of various gift cards, such as Toys R Us and Sears, so they could get the kids gifts for Christmas. In addition, Steve Caro from a local store offered to refurnish the couple’s home.

“We’re going to help you out with whatever furniture needs you have. Tell us what you need. We’ll figure it all out, get it all together, and make you comfortable.”

That piece of generosity was just the beginning. According to Variety, Ellen is also starting a new charity that is based on the game “Best Friends” along with the game studio “Seriously” and popular YouTube celebrities.

There will be seven teams competing and donations will be collected through The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Not only that, but the show will match the donations received if 100,000,000 slugs in total are defeated by the participating teams. There is the potential to raise as much as $250,000 for charity.

After Ellen made Christmas that much sweeter for so many people, how did she celebrate the holidays herself? She was with her wife Portia De Rossi, of course. Daily Mail reports the two were spotted out strolling around St. Bart’s Island on Christmas Eve. They jetted off on their island getaway shortly after Ellen finished up her show for the holiday season. What a great time to relax together and just escape all the stresses of everyday life.

As People magazine reports, the pair are still aboard the yacht, and have been joined by Kendall Jenner and Harry Styles — and their moms!
