First Look: Naomi Watts As Princess Diana

Filming for the new movie Caught In Flight has already started and from the looks of it, Naomi Watts is going to make a pretty convincing Princess Diana.

The first photos of Naomi Watts on the set as Princess Diana surfaced today and the actress looks eerily similar to the late Diana.

The movie focuses on the last two years of Diana’s life. According to the Daily Mail, the new movie is expected to focus on her relationship with heart surgeon Dr Hasnat Khan. Caught In Flight will also include the tragic car accident that took Diana’s life at the age of 36 in 1997.

Watts, 43, said:

“It is such an honor to be able to play this iconic role. Princess Diana was loved across the world and I look forward to rising to the challenge of playing her on screen. She is a part of our history, an incredible woman and fascinating but a tragic ending.”

Naveen Andrews, who will be playing Dr. Hasnat Khan, said that Naomi Watts is the only actress who could pull of playing Princess Diana.

Andrews told the Daily Mail:

“I don’t think anyone else could have done it – there’s no one else…. Whenever you work, usually if something has a chance or the potential to be good it usually starts with a good script and I’m very happy with the script and Naomi is doing it and she’s wonderful… I’m very much looking forward to shooting.”
