Miley Cyrus Spent New Years With Liam Hemsworth In Australia — Are They Back Together?

Miley Cyrus spent the New Year’s holiday with her ex-fiance, Liam Hemsworth, in Australia, Us Weekly reports. Now fans are wondering whether they will be getting back together.

According to Sydney’s Daily Telegraph, Miley and Liam were spotted kissing and cuddling at The Falls Music Festival in Byron’s Bay. They were also seen walking together towards the VIP area alongside Chris Hemsworth and his wife, Elsa Pataky.

As Us Weekly reports, lots of eye witnesses took to social media to report that they had seen Cyrus and Hemsworth at the event.

The “Wrecking Ball” singer met the Hunger Games star during the filming of the 2010 film, The Last Song. The two got engaged in 2013 with Hemsworth giving Cyrus a 3.5-carat Neil Lane engagement ring, according to Us Weekly. But they never made it down the aisle. Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth broke up in September of the same year that he proposed. Pretty soon, Miley Cyrus’ music and public image became highly controversial.

“You fall in love with who you fall in love with,” Hemsworth said in an interview Men’s Fitness magazine for its November, 2015, issue. “You can never choose. I guess some people just come with a little more baggage. I mean, look — we were together five years. I don’t think those feelings will ever change. And that’s good because that proves to me that it was real. It wasn’t just a fling. It really was an important part of my life and always will be.”

But if you’ve been following Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth news recently you won’t be surprised that they spent the beginning of the year together. Cyrus recently helped Liam adopt a dog in November, Us Weekly reports. Miley picked out the rescue for Hemsworth from Wylder’s Holistic Pet Center and Rescue in L.A.’s Studio City neighborhood. She thought the dog would be perfect for him and it looks like he agreed as the Australian actor picked up the dog almost as soon as he returned to Los Angeles from China.

“Miley sent him a ton of photos – Liam was asking for photos of the dog being held,” an employee at Wylder’s told Us Weekly. “Liam got back from China and literally came right to Wylder’s to take the dog home. The dog is super gentle and sweet and took right to Liam, despite being afraid of men in the past.”

Hemsworth named the dog Dora, after the popular cartoon character, Dora The Explorer. He also spent some money at the pet rescue, picking up some goodies for the new furry member of his family and made a donation to the Wylder’s Holistic Pet Center and Rescue.

The rescue center posted a picture of a smiling Liam Hemsworth and Dora, the dog, on Instagram.

“Thanks @mileycyrus for loving dogs as much as we do!! You helped find this gigantic, 6 month old puppy a new home. @liamhemsworth you will give this deserving baby a great life!” the rescue center wrote in the caption on Instagram.

Miley, a passionate advocate for animal rights also recently helped her friend and creative collaborator, Wayne Coyne of The Flaming Lips, to find a new pet too. As Us Weekly also reports, he and Cyrus picked up a black and white dog named Yogi from the Bella foundation.

Beyond the apparent rekindling of the romance with Hemsworth, there are even more signs that Cyrus will be returning to her tamer, pre-Bangerz persona. In a recent Instagram snap, Miley’s hair looeds longer and less blonde, and according to Cosmpolitan UK it isn’t a wig.

So does this mean we’ll see a more toned down Miley Cyrus in 2016? Only time will tell.
