Chris Brown Arrest, Retirement Rumors False, Rep Says

Was Chris Brown arrested for gun possession after the 2012 BET Awards on Sunday? The singer’s rep says no.

Following Brown’s acceptance of the Best Male R&B Artist and Entertainer Of The Year honors at last night’s BET Award show, rumors began circulating that the Kiss Kiss singer had rolled into L.A.’s Shrine Auditorium with a weapon, as a precaution given his previous dealings with romantic rival Drake.

Brown was then reportedly arrested and taken to a local police station.

Connecticut-based hip hop radio station Hot 93.7 even tweeted a confirmation of the alleged incident which said:

BREAKING NEWS!!!:Chris Brown Arrested for
Possession of a GUN at #BETAWARDS!!!

As it turns out, there’s no truth to the gun-bust story, as a representative for Brown clarified that “no arrest happened” and pointed out that Drake didn’t actually attend the awards show, so there was no chance of an altercation between the two artists.

In addition the false arrest rumors, Brown’s spokesperson also denied claims that the singer is going to retire from the music industry.

The speculation started after Brown referred to his “Fortune” album as his “last album” during his Best R&B Male Artist acceptance speech at the BET awards show.

“My last album that’s coming out in two days…” Brown said. “I just want to thank all my fans. It’s dedicated to y’all. This one’s for y’all, man, I appreciate everything.”

Chris Brown was instead referring to the last album he had worked on rather than his retirement from the music business, the rep pointed out.
