‘The Walking Dead’ Premieres A Negan-Centric Trailer [Video]

The Walking Dead may not be scheduled to return for awhile yet, but that doesn’t mean the showrunners don’t have new teasers, trailers, and spoilers to whet fans’ appetites. Among the sneak peeks starting to emerge is a new trailer that gives fans of the series a bold new look at the return of season 6, following the mid season break. As is usually the case with the Robert Kirkman series, zombies aren’t the only threats facing Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and company. As they say in the classic westerns, there’s a new sheriff in town.

As the second half of The Walking Dead‘s current season picks up, everyone will be faced with a major dilemma. The question of whether it’s wise to remain within the confines of Alexandria will become even more pressing, as the introduction of a new threat makes life there even more difficult.

For someone who isn’t even seen in the latest trailer, Negan, played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Supernatural), sure makes a lasting impression. The manner in which his name is dropped influences every aspect of this teaser and leaves one wondering just how vast Negan’s reach really is. Does he have something to do with the anguished cries heard coming from Maggie (Lauren Cohan)? He must have a fairly large company of men to help him enforce his power, but just how big of an army does he have at his disposal?

Robert Kirkman confirms that Negan is the leader of the Saviors, but fans of the comic book source material already knew as much. The showrunner for The Walking Dead adds that Negan and his Saviors may be the biggest threat ever introduced on the series, while also mentioning that there couldn’t have been a more perfect choice to play Negan than Mr. Morgan. He says that Jeffrey, like Negan, is very personable and funny, the kind of guy everyone likes, but he can also be very intimidating. Kirkman says that Morgan possesses all of the traits necessary to make the new character really come to life.

“Negan himself is a catalyst who fundamentally changes what we’re doing with The Walking Dead and how these characters exist and really messes a lot of things up for Rick in a lot of terrifying ways. There’s a lot of cool stuff in store for The Walking Dead fans when he debuts.”

Lauren Cohan Makes The Cover of Shape Magazine

The Walking Dead‘s Cohan was selected for the cover of the fitness magazine for her slender curves, but the actress revealed that she wasn’t always so willing to show off her body. She told Shape that she was very skinny as a young girl and teenager and that the body shaming remarks of her classmates only made matters worse. Cohan said that the only time she felt comfortable was when she was swimming.

In college, Lauren packed on weight to gain a more normal physique, but she did so by eating junk food. She knew she was really just sabotaging her own body, so she eventually switched to a healthier diet and started exploring exercise as a better way of building bulk in the right places.

“When I don’t exercise in the morning, it’s a completely different day than when I do,” says The Walking Dead actress. “Working out gives me endorphin’s and makes me happy. I need it!”

When The Walking Dead is filming, Cohan says her exercise routines are interrupted, so she has to be a bit more creative. She takes the stairs, does press ups between scenes, and fits in some sit ups on her lunch breaks. She also brings along a few work out DVDs to make up for missing her more rigorous workouts.

Don’t be fooled into thinking that Lauren has entirely abandoned the junk food of her younger days.

“My favorite is Justin’s Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups.”

The Walking Dead returns on Sunday, February 14 on AMC.
