Josh Duggar started 2015 known primarily as the virtuous, oldest son of the 19 Kids And Counting reality TV show clan. Seemingly happily married to Anna Duggar, with a growing group of children, he was busy in his career flaunting his beliefs in conservative family values. Then came a series of bombshells, starting with reports that he had molested several underage girls as a teenager, some of whom were his sisters. The Duggars’ show was cancelled, and soon after, the hackers’ data from the Ashley Madison site for infidelity revealed that Josh had paid for two accounts. Josh reportedly subsequently confessed to cheating on Anna, and an addiction to pornography, before entering rehab.

The scandals emanating from Josh have not yet ended. Duggar, 27, allegedly gave adult film star Danica Dillon thousands of dollars to persuade her to have sex with him, and she in turn has filed a lawsuit based on assault, reported the Hollywood Gossip.

Danica alleges that the intimate relations that she had with Josh caused emotional and physical “scars.” Because she has shown no indication that she might forget about the lawsuit or agree to settle without a court hearing, Josh faces a potential criminal investigation that could put the Duggars’ oldest son into jail.

If the case carries forward, Duggar could be charged with misdemeanor simple assault, associated with one to two years behind bars, or felony aggravated assault, which could land him in prison for one to two decades, according to an expert cited by Hollywood Gossip.

What would happen to Josh if he ends up in jail terrifies his father Jim Bob, because he’s worried about his son but also the damage to the Duggars’ reputation. Ironically, the potential prison sentence looms just as Josh finished up his rehab treatment for sex addiction.

To his wife Anna Duggar, what Josh did was the ultimate betrayal, reported the Daily Mail.

Anna views Josh as her first and only real love, and revealed that when she learned Josh had been involved in multiple affairs, she was horrified. The confession by Josh of those affairs occurred just one month after Anna welcomed their fourth baby.

Talking on an episode of Jill & Jessa: Counting On, which recently aired on TLC, Anna recalled how she reacted when she discovered what Duggar had done.

“I think it is such a betrayal for a spouse to go through what we’re walking through. It was hard to realize that it was such a public thing, and so, not only was it a betrayal against me, but it was also a betrayal for those who call themselves Christian. Everyone was able to see us get married and to vow before God to be loyal to each other, and that loyalty was broken. And so, for my heart, it was just broken.”

The Duggar family’s problems began in May, when reports surfaced that as a teenager, Josh had molested five underage girls. Four of his victims were his sisters. That bombshell was swiftly followed by the cancellation of 19 Kids And Counting by TLC.

In August, the Ashley Madison website hacking showed Josh’s accounts. Adult film star Dillon then stepped forward to detail the two occasions on which she and Josh had sex.

Duggar described his sex addiction in a confession on the family website.

“I have been the biggest hypocrite ever. While espousing faith and family values, I have secretly over the last several years been viewing pornography on the internet and this became a secret addiction and I became unfaithful to my wife. I am so ashamed of the double life that I have been living and am grieved for the hurt, pain and disgrace my sin has caused my wife and family,” wrote Duggar.

Josh subsequently started the rehab program, leaving Anna to take care of their four children.
