Miss Universe Rigged? Miss Colombia Says Goal ‘Succeeded’ For Ratings, But It ‘Humiliated’ Her

The 2015 Miss Universe pageant experienced a huge faux pas when host Steve Harvey accidentally called out Miss Colombia as the winner instead of Miss Philippines. Ariadna Gutierrez Arevalo was crowned briefly as the Miss Universe winner until she was told it was Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach who won the competition. It was a devastating and cringe-worthy moment in beauty pageant history.

Miss Colombia interviewed with Colombia’s W Radio via the Latin Times and expressed more of her thoughts after the infamous Miss Universe gaffe.

The momentarily crowned Miss Universe said that during rehearsals with Steve Harvey the only thing that crossed her mind was “this is going to be a joke, because in the rehearsals he used to play around with questions and I thought he was going to continue with that same tone to make people laugh.”

Ariadna Gutierrez said that if the organization wanted to achieve ratings and publicity, it definitely worked.

“If that was the goal, they succeeded,” she said.

Gutierrez added that even though she was mistakenly crowned as the Miss Universe beauty queen, it brought joy to her country for a few minutes. When it ended, it was humiliating.

“It was very humiliating for me, but also for the whole country and for all the people not only from Colombia but the other Latinos that were in the auditorium,” she said.

Miss Colombia said she finally agreed with Donald Trump on something he said when he revealed that he thought two Miss Universe titles should have been doled out this year.

She said with a laugh in her interview, “For the first time I agree with him.”

Despite the humiliation felt by Ariadna Gutierrez at the Miss Universe pageant, she’s been receiving a ton of job offers. One such offer that’s been reported on is a porn offer by Vivid Entertainment on social media. Ariadna said for $1 million, she refuses to accept it, and that “my parents would kill me.”

Countless work proposals and offers continue pouring in, but she clears everything with her family and her agent first.

When Steve Harvey made one of the biggest mistakes ever in entertainment, he profusely apologized for announcing the wrong pageant winner. He made things worse when he misspelled the Twitter messages. He spelled “Colombia” wrong with “Columbia,” and referenced “Philippines” as “Philippians.”

In all, his message was genuine — and corrected on Twitter. It read: “I’d like to apologize wholeheartedly to Miss Colombia & Miss Philippines for my huge mistake. I feel terrible.”

Harvey owns what he did and takes full responsibility for the mistake. He experienced a huge backlash after the accident. In spite of the snafu, he’s been invited back to host next year’s Miss Universe pageant. It’s unclear if he’ll accept the offer, and view it as a chance to redeem himself.

Miss Universe winner Pia Wurtzbach has sent Miss Colombia a message on social media in the meantime.

Her message read: “To Ariadna, you are an amazing woman and we are now bonded together forever by a unique experience. In the last 3 weeks we were together, I saw how strong and beautiful you are inside and out. You represented your country with honor and I know how proud everyone must be of you. Fate has a plan for you, and I’m excited to see what’s ahead.”

Do you think Ariadna Gutierrez was called out as the Miss Universe winner on purpose for ratings? Many believe that to be case.
