Fans can watch the Clemson vs. Oklahoma game live online and see which team takes the Orange Bowl and with it a ticket into this year’s national championship game.

The game starts at 4 p.m. on New Year’s Eve, kicking off the College Football Playoff a day earlier than normal this year. The game will be broadcast on ESPN, but it will also be available for live streaming video (link below).

Clemson will be taking its No. 1 overall ranking and its perfect 13-0 record into the matchup against the Sooners, who at 11-1 snuck into the No. 4 spot in the College Football Playoff bracket. This year, the Tigers are hoping to avoid a repeat of last year’s Russell Athletic Bowl, where they were embarrassed 40-6 at the hands of Oklahoma.

Despite ending the season with a perfect record and outscoring opponents 500-263 this season, Clemson is wary of the strength of Oklahoma. The Tigers already overcame a near-upset earlier this season, just holding on against Notre Dame in an October meeting, and are looking to avoid a letdown against a very strong Sooners team.

“We know we’re going to have to play our best four quarters of the year,” Clemson coach Dabo Swinney told ESPN. “That’s what these games are all about. There’s not a lot of margin for error, certainly when you’re playing a team as hot as Oklahoma. They’re probably playing the best football of anybody in the country right now.”

Fans who watch the Clemson vs. Oklahoma game live online will see a Sooners team at home in the Orange Bowl. As ESPN pointed out, the team is a frequent participant in the game and had a very strong finish to 2015 to return.

“The Sooners — outright winners of the Big 12 title, their ninth in 17 seasons under coach Bob Stoops — are extending their record by heading to the game for the 19th time, 20 if you count a BCS title game that was hosted by the Orange Bowl Committee. Oklahoma could have been doomed by a midseason loss to Texas, but won seven straight by a combined score of 364-136 to climb into the CFP mix.”

Clemson is already entering the 2015 Orange Bowl at a disadvantage. On Wednesday, the team announced that three players were sent home after failing drug tests, including wide receiver Deon Cain, who is third on the team in receptions. Also suspended were senior kicker Ammon Lakip and junior tight end Jay Jay McCullough, USA Today reported.

But Clemson has been able to overcome adversity before this season, and has done so thanks to Swinney’s simple approach. As USA Today pointed out, he enters each new season with the same list of goals:

“Win the season opener. Win the ACC’s Atlantic Division. Win the ‘state championship’ — which means beating South Carolina. Win the ACC. Win the bowl game.”

“If we can achieve those goals consistently, we’re gonna have a great program.”

Clemson has already completed four of those goals and will start working on the fifth on New Year’s Eve. Fans who watch the Clemson vs. Oklahoma game live online will actually see a Tigers team favored to win and move one step closer to its first national championship in 34 years.
