Aaron Hill Cycle: D-backs’ Hill Hits for Second Cycle of Season [Video]

He’s done it again.

Less than two weeks after hitting for the cycle against the Mariners, Arizona Diamondbacks second baseman Aaron Hill has accomplished the impressive feat once more during his team’s 9-3 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers on Friday night.

“You can’t think about it,” said Hill, who became the fourth player in MLB history to hit for two cycles in the same season. “You look for a ball up and hope things work out.”

During the game, Hill doubled for his 1,000th hit in the first inning, singled in the third and hit his 11th home run of the season, a two-run shot in the fourth. All those hits came off Wolf (2-6).

Needing just a triple to complete what has been called “one of the rarest” and “most difficult feats” in baseball, Hill sent a low and outside pitch off Livan Hernandez into the gap in right-center field and legged out a three-bagger.

“It was obviously great to get the cycle but it was also great to get the win. It wouldn’t be as enjoyable if we had lost,” said Hill in a post-game interview.

Though Hill seemed a bit dumbfounded by his good fortune (his latest cycle is the 294th in the history of the MLB), Brewers manager Ron Roenicke wasn’t surprised by Hill’s hitting prowess.

“He can really hit,” Roenicke said. “This is a really good hitter. We made some bad pitches.”

With 86 games left to go this year one has to wonder if Aaron Hill will become the first player to hit for three cycles in a season.
