Fifth Harmony rose to fame on The X Factor USA in 2012, but it’s no surprise to find out that the fabulous fivesome have always been talented.
Fifth Harmony fans recently came across an old video of band member Lauren Jauregui performing two Lady Gaga tracks at what appears to be a talent show several years ago, and it’s been heating up the internet ever since.
In the clip available below, posted on YouTube by Fifth Harmony fan LMJ Updates just last week, the talented girl bander can be seen showing off her powerful voice as she performs a mash-up of the Lady Gaga hits “Speechless” and “Paparazzi.”
Performing a stripped-back version of the two tracks, taken from Gaga’s first two studio albums The Fame and The Fame Monster, Lauren can also be seen in the shaky video sporting a very Gaga-esque ensemble, which includes hot pink leggings and a black tutu.
Though the video was recorded prior to the Fifth Harmony ladies hitting it big across the globe with hits like 2015’s “Worth It” and 2014’s “Boss,” the recently surfaced amateur footage has been causing quite a stir with Fifth Harmony fans online.
Excited fans took to Twitter to express their excrement over the vintage Fifth Harmony footage, with comments including “Lauren’s cover of Paparazzi by Lady Gaga, is officially my new favorite thing. I love her voice” and “Dunno about u but I need more Gaga covers by Lauren, too much to ask @god?? [sic].”
The solo video found its way online just days after the Fifth Harmony beauties denied persistent rumours that the band are planning on going their separate ways in the new year.
The Fifth Harmony girls refuted the split rumours during a recent interview with Spain’s Europe FM, but hinted that there may be a time limit on the band after they were asked during a fan question and answer session where they see themselves in five years’ time.
“We’ve been together for basically three years now, and looking back, we’re very, very happy with where we’re at right now,” Fifth Harmony band-member Dinah Jane said during the Madrid based interview. “But from here on out, we just wanna see — we just wanna hopefully win a couple more awards together; maybe build more music together, as well, before we … I feel like we’ll probably go our separate ways maybe later on.”
In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Camila Cabello revealed that the band are actually hard at work on their second studio album, set for release in 2016, which will serve as the follow up to the debut release, Reflection.
“We’re working on our second album right now. We are in the last few days recording,” Camilla told the site of Fifth Harmony’s upcoming release earlier this month, “You’re going to be hearing new music very soon, and that’s that.”
Camilla also confirmed during a recent interview backstage at KIIS FM‘s annual Jingle Ball show that Fifth Harmony are currently in the “final days” of recording for their sophomore release and have been hitting the recording studio to produce some pretty strong songs for their much-anticipated follow-up release.
“There’s this one song that we recorded today that I’m really excited about because, lyrically, I think it’s the best of the entire album,” Cabello told the site of a very special song Fifth Harmony recorded at the start of December, hinting that fans would hear the new material “soon.”
“I can’t say the title, but I’m really excited about it,” she continued in the backstage interview, adding, “it’s going to come out pretty soon, which is going to be fun.”
