Fifth Harmony Fans At Odds With Both 1D, 5SOS Fans — The Deal Behind Their Beef

Fifth Harmony’s fans are in a feud with both One Direction and 5 Seconds of Summer fans. It seems like this feud has been a long time coming since they’ve all hated each other’s guts for no apparent reason whatsoever.

5H fans, known as Harmonizers, have taken to Twitter to blast the Australian band 5 Seconds of Summer for their controversial Rolling Stone cover story. They’re the ones responsible for the hashtag #5SOSIsDeadParty, which has been trending worldwide. So, both One Direction and 5 Seconds of Summer fans have been fighting back against the Harmonizers.

Fifth Harmony fans were enraged when they read the comments that Ashton Irwin, Calum Hood, Luke Hemmings, and Michael Clifford made when it comes to their fan base. Not only did they slam their fans, but they also admitted that they slept with some of them during their first major tour. It all started when Luke Hemmings revealed that he doesn’t like being referred to as a boy band.

“Are you a boy band? They said, ‘We’re in a boy band, too.’ I was like, ‘I’m walking away now.’ “

Then Ashton Irwin chimed in, saying that they don’t want to be seen as some pop-punk or pop-rock group. The guys of 5 Seconds of Summer want to be taken more seriously. That’s when they dissed a majority of their fan base.

“Seventy-five percent of our lives is proving we’re a real band. We’re getting good at it now. We don’t want just be, like, for girls. We want to be for everyone. That’s the great mission that we have. I’m already seeing a few male fans start to pop up, and that’s cool. If the Beatles and the Rolling Stones and all those guys can do it, we can do it, too.”

But things got really heated when Luke revealed that he had sex with a lot of his young fans on tour — something that upset both Fifth Harmony and 5 Seconds of Summer’s own fans.

“When you put four young dues on a tour bus, playing theaters, then arenas, you’re going to have sex with a lot of girls, I guess. We had a good time.”

This particular quote has taken offense to some of Fifth Harmony’s fans. They used the vile hashtag to bring up Ashton’s history with self-harm and his dad leaving his family.

One fan wrote: “#5SOSIsDeadParty Harmonizers bringing up Ashton’s past but can they bring up 5harmony’s future?”

Meanwhile, another added: “It pisses me off that people joke about self-harming and Ashton’s dad. that’s not something to joke about. Grow up. #5SOSIsDeadParty”

But this is also the same fandom that created the insensitive trending topic #5sosFamWantsHarmonizerstoKillThemselves earlier this year. And they also slut-shamed the girls when they won the Favorite New Artist award at the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards in late March.

Multiple users with One Direction-related handles shared their support for 5SOS fans. 5 Seconds of Summer’s guitarist, Michael Clifford, also supported the band’s fans amid the Rolling Stone controversy. He took to Twitter to exclaim that their own fans are the reason why their band is so successful.

Fifth Harmony and One Direction have not responded to the controversy surrounding 5 Seconds of Summer. It’s not like they need to anyway. Their fan bases are the ones who got involved for no reason, whatsoever. But the ladies of the U.S. girl group did reveal their favorite One Direction band mate. Dinah Jane Hansen told BANG Showbiz (via Press Party) that Niall Horan is their favorite.

“I would say Niall’s like a good homey. He’s very chilled. We hung out with him and Louis. They’re both very cool I would say, super awesome. I love those boys.”

Dinah Jane and Lauren Jauregui were spotted on that night out with Niall and Louis Tomlinson, while sparking romance rumors. Dinah addressed that night, saying, “But that Lauren and Louis thing it wasn’t even anything that serious, but maybe you should ask her.”

What are your thoughts? Do you think Fifth Harmony’s fans went overboard when they slammed 5SOS? Are you surprised to see that Directioners sided with 5SOS fans, even though both have battled over the years? Sound off below in the comments section.
