Miranda Lambert Lambasted By Animal Lovers & PETA For Flaunting Fur Coat: Supports Dog Rescue Amid Love For Hunting

Miranda Lambert is in trouble, y’all, and we’re not talking her reported rage over the hot hook-up between her ex, Blake Shelton, and his new true love, Gwen Stefani. Instead, Miranda is feeling the heat from animal lovers everywhere, including PETA, after she flaunted the fur coats she received as a Christmas gift.

It’s particularly ironic because Lambert is known for her animal rescue foundation, MuttNation, as well as her country singing prowess, pointed out the New York Daily News.

Here’s what happened and how Miranda went from having a reputation as a furry animal’s best friend to animal lover hypocrite. Lambert flaunted a photo of herself sporting an extravagant fur coat that she had received from her grandmother. It’s one of two such coats, and the one Miranda showed off goes all the way down to the floor, evoking images of multiple animals being killed in order to wear the fancy outfit, contended those involved in the beauty and the beast backlash.

“‘I’m so fancy… You already know’ my Nonny gave me two of her fur coats!” shared Miranda in a quote from Iggy Azalea’s “Fancy” in her Instagram pic. “I definitely know where I got my love for DIAMONDS, FUR and WHISKEY!”

Bad move, according to those who lambasted Miranda, contending that she was “promoting murder.” Miranda and her mother are co-founders of MuttNation, and Lambert even has five dogs herself. But when Miranda flaunted that fur coat, fury flew.

“You claim to be all about loving animals but you wear a few on your back,” attacked one critic. “Shame on you!!!! You’re nothing but a fake piece of crap.”

“Stupid narcissist,” slammed another angry follower. “Do you know how many poor animals are killed so can have that dam ugly fur coat?”

PETA, known for seeking to protect the rights of animals, expressed its dismay over the fur coat fiasco and disappointment in Miranda.

“We had higher hopes,” said Lisa Lange, PETA senior vice president, to the Daily News. “Since Miranda rescues dogs, we always thought she could see that whether fur comes from a mink, a fox, or a dog or a cat in China, the source is always a gentle animal who did not want to die.”

However, one animal lover urged that the harsh comments be toned down because Miranda received the coat as a gift from her grandmother rather than purchasing it from a store.

“I’m an animal lover, BUT… this coat was already made, passed down from her adorable grandmother that she loves to pieces, and I think she should be proud of the coat!” opined one coat champion.

Miranda apparently agreed. She also shared a photo of her grandma, herself, and a look at her grandmother’s name in the coat to showcase the heirloom coat meaning.

“Her name embroidered inside is priceless,” asserted Miranda. “A family heirloom I will cherish forever. I’m so thankful for her and all the things I have learned from her. Nonny is strong, beautiful, feisty and most of all, loving.”

But the fur coat controversy isn’t over yet. Some remain baffled by why Lambert would describe her own animal rescue foundation as one designed to stop animal cruelty and not see the hypocrisy in flaunting those fur coats, pointed out Ahlan.

Just as with PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals), Miranda and her mom Beverly co-founded their MuttNation Foundation to halt cruelty towards animals. The foundation, which also claims to seek to put a halt to animal “neglect and homelessness” as well as cruelty, offers animal shelters support.

However, Lambert shares a love for hunting with her ex country crooner, Blake, pointed out the Hollywood Gossip.

And Miranda has been candid in her fondness for hunting, even sharing pics and clips of the pursuit.

What do you think about the fur coat controversy created by Miranda? Is the fact that the coats were gifts from her grandmother evidence that she’s not really a supporter of killing animals for fur? Post your comments below.
