Salman Khan Birthday: Bollywood Actor Turns 50, Discusses Marriage Rumors

Bollywood actor Salman Khan turned 50 on Sunday!

The A-list movie star has been a big name in Bollywood for quite some time — admired by fans and critics alike all over the world. However, crossing such a major milestone comes with the reminder that you are not necessarily as young as you once were years ago.

During an interview with the Hindustan Times, Salman Khan had a chance to discuss his big transition into his 50s. According to Salman, it really was not that big of a change at all. That was, of course, until he started training for a film.

“I don’t feel the age at all. But recently, when I started training [for Sultan], I wasn’t able to do some of the stuff easily, which I could do effortlessly in the past. But then, I feel it’s (agility) all coming back. The muscle and mind memory is so amazing that it starts coming back on its own [when you need them].”

Salman Khan had his first big break as an actor in Bollywood in the 1989 film, Maine Pyar Kiya. According to Rediff Movies, that film “was an instant blockbuster and the newbies became a rage among teenyboppers.”

At the time, 26-year-old Salman likely had big dreams about being a successful Bollywood star. Over the next two decades, though, Salman would eventually become one of the most in-demand leading actors in the industry.

His current status as an in-demand actor was also discussed during the same interview. Khan expressed his approach to his work at this particular point in his career. The Dabangg 2 star made it clear that his audience was his primary focus.

“The first and foremost thing is that I keep my audiences in mind [while doing a film], and also the kind of money they will pay to watch my movies. So, if they spend Rs 150, Rs 250 or Rs 650, I keep in mind that when they come out of the theatres, they should be happy that their money has been well spent.”

In addition to his professional life, Salman Khan has definitely made headlines over the years with his personal life, as well.

Recently, rumors and speculation circulating online have claimed that Salman Khan was working on his wedding plans. Quite a few reports even stated that Khan was engaged to his now-girlfriend, Romanian actress Iulia Vantur. Apparently, Salman has taken a humorous approach to these rumors in the past but did not hesitate to address them once and for all during the same interview.

“At that time, I was like, ‘You should have let this rumour play on for some more time. Let us also find out what it leads to… If there has been no engagement, let’s at least enjoy rumours (laughs). May be, those rumours would have told us if we should go ahead [with marriage] or not (laughs).”

When he was asked specifically if there were any wedding plans at all, Salman responded by saying, “Nothing at all.”

With nearly three decades of Bollywood films on his resume, 50-year-old Salman Khan does not appear to be slowing down anytime soon. As mentioned, he will more than likely keep his fans happy and his critics guessing with the future of his career.
