WWE News: Wade Barrett’s Neck Injury Reportedly Not As Serious As Once Thought

Whether you call him Bad News Barrett, King Barrett, or simply Wade Barrett, the man has been a big part of WWE over the last number of years. Sadly, only one thing has truly stopped him from going to the next level, and that’s injuries. He had stayed healthy for a little while before getting hurt yet again recently, which was sad to see as it seemed WWE was trying to give him a bit more spotlight to step out more.

We heard rumors of a neck injury that seemed like it could be serious. However, that may not be the case. Pro Wrestling Sheet reports that Wade Barrett is not seriously injured but does have an injury that will take a bit of time for him to heal up from, but not for too long. He apparently has a nerve injury in his neck, which is why he has not worked any matches or taken any serious bumps as of late.

It is said that the nerve issue is not seen as a significant injury and he won’t be out too much longer from it, which is good to see for the former Intercontinental Champion. Barrett apparently sustained the injury in a match a few weeks ago and at the time, it was just seen as a stinger for him. Now he is simply taking time to heal from the problem, which WWE has allowed him to do.

WWE obviously does not see the injury as a huge problem for Wade Barrett, which is why he has been part of the League of Nations storyline still. If he was hurt, WWE would not take any chances on having him out in the ring. Barrett could be back to action by as soon as the Royal Rumble, but he may still be part of angles for the League storyline leading up to that.

Many felt it was weird that Barrett was involved in the storyline with the League but rarely involved in the attacks, so now we have more of an idea on it. What will be interesting to see is if he will continue to escape the ring before a bump has to be taken, or if eventually WWE will force him to take one closer to the time he will have recovered enough.

The major issue for most with a nerve issue is how things will go once they start to take spots again. Barrett may very well need to take a bump to know if he can take anymore, so we can probably expect him to take one within the next few weeks, if not on WWE RAW on Monday night.

Wade Barrett did get lucky with this ordeal, as a nerve issue is much better for him to have than a tear, break, or fracture. Barrett really cannot afford to be hurt significantly anymore. When he returned, he looked to be in the best shape of his life and in a much better position to make a big run to the top. The problem is that he never could get over while also continuing to get hurt. Barrett was able to stay in the public light due to his impressive promo skills.

When the Bad News character was born, this allowed Barrett to stand out without ever having to take a bump. At the end of the day, his mic skills push him above most in the company and his wrestling ability is just as good as anyone else’s. He has the size to also be seen as a legit threat. The only thing holding Barrett back is the injuries, really. Hopefully, after this whole nerve ordeal, he can stay healthy the rest of his career with WWE.
