Clarence Duwell Dear: 51-Year-Old Called “Extremely Dangerous” After Christmas Day Murder Of 41-Year-Old Woman Set On Fire


Clarence Duwell Dear is the name of a man being called “extremely dangerous” by police in Pomona, California. Duwell Dear is suspected of murder, reports NBC News, in the death of a woman who had been set on fire. On December 25, a 41-year-old woman fled a home but was chased outside by a man whom witnesses claim was Dear. Clarence Duwell reportedly got into an argument with the 41-year-old woman, whose name is being withheld by the Pomona Police Department pending notification of her family, and poured gasoline on her. Dear might have then used a lit cigarette to set the woman on fire.

According to police, the crime happened on Christmas Day, at nearly 2 p.m., when neighbors reported seeing the woman run from a house on fire.

“On December 25, 2015, at approximately 1:44 PM, officers were called to the 1500 block of Cordova St. after reports of a person who had been set on fire. Neighbors who saw the victim run from the residence engulfed in flames, rendered assistance as she collapsed on the street and remained with her until LA County Fire personnel arrived. The victim was treated for severe burns and was transported to a local hospital where she died shortly thereafter as a result of her injuries. “

The 41-year-old woman that Clarence is accused of setting on fire died soon after she arrived at a local hospital. Dear’s victim’s death was from sever burns.

The wanted poster displays two photos of Clarence, one with Duwell Dear looking straight at the camera. The other photo of Clarence shows a side profile of the man, described as a black male who is 5-foot-11 inches tall with a weight of 170 pounds. Dear’s hair is black and grey (although, it could’ve changed colors while Duwell Dear was on the run) his eyes are described as brown.

Since the photo of Duwell Dear is from 2012, when Clarence was previously arrested, Dear’s image could’ve changed in the three years since the photo was taken. Clarence has not been spotted since the fire death of the woman. the public is being urged to contact the Pomona Police Department if they have tips or spot Duwell Dear, who should be considered dangerous. The release, written by Sergeant Bert Sanchez at 909-620-2156, urges the public to contact the department with tips.

“Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Pomona Police Department at 909-620-2085. If tipsters prefer to provide information anonymously, they may call “Crime Stoppers” at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), or call Pomona PD dispatch at (909) 622-1241.”

Clarence is being accused of setting the woman on fire and killing her in Pomona. The California city boasts approximately 150,000 people as its population. Clarence was spotted dousing the woman in gasoline in the city that’s located about 30 miles east of Los Angeles.

Clarence may or may not be armed, with authorities reporting that although there was no evidence that suggested Duwell Dear was armed with a weapon other than the gasoline and lit cigarette, Clarence should still be considered extremely dangerous.

As of this writing, Clarence is still on the run. The Pomona woman who allegedly died at the hands of Clarence, reports KTLA, collapsed in the street as Clarence fled the scene. Along with the above numbers to call, any person who spots Clarence is also urged to call 911.
