Is Miley Cyrus Singing The Christmas Blues Over Ex Liam Hemsworth?
Miley Cyrus released one of the saddest Christmas songs you’ll ever hear in your life, and her fans think it’s about her ex-fiancé Liam Hemsworth.
Miley Cyrus had a special present for her fans. Unfortunately for them, it’s the saddest Christmas song ever. It’s even sadder than Elvis Presley’s “Blue Christmas.” Cyrus, 22, dropped her free track “My Sad Christmas Song” onto her SoundCloud account on Christmas Eve, Dec. 24.
The NSFW lyrics go, “This is my sad Christmas song / I’ve had it stuck in my head all day long / I wrote it in the car on my ride home / ‘Cause I knew I’d walk in the door and I’d be alone. Why’d I even put up that f***ing tree / If there’s no one here that’s gonna see /Just how pretty she looks on Christmas Eve / ‘Cause there’s no one here next to me.”
The song does get sort of playful when Cyrus talks about thinking Santa Claus is cute while she is flashing him her boobs and leaving him beer instead of the traditional cookies and milk.
The melancholy lyrics are making fans wonder if the song is about Miley’s split from Liam Hemsworth. The couple ended their engagement in September 2013. They met on the set of their 2009 film The Last Song and dated three years before becoming engaged in 2012. The song ends with Miley telling her mystery crush that she misses them so.
In October, Hemsworth revealed to Elle Magazine that he will always love Cyrus, even though they obviously grew apart.
“You fall in love with people who you fall in love with; you can never choose. I guess some people just come with a little more baggage. I mean, look – we were together five years, so I don’t think those feelings will ever change. And that’s good because that proves to me that it was real. It wasn’t just a fling. It really was an important part of my life and always will be. She’s a free spirit. I think she’ll always surprise people with what she does, but she’s not a malicious person in any way. She’s a young girl who wants to do what she wants to do.”
Last month, Miley was photographed wearing the same Mutant Ninja Turtle onesie that Liam previously wore in his Ice Bucket Challenge video, making fans wonder if the couple was back together. Then, it was revealed that Miley also helped Liam adopt a new dog, making the romance rumors swirl once again.
Earlier this month, fans thought that Cyrus’ cryptic Instagram post is a text message from Hemsworth. The photo is simply a screenshot of a text that says, “I love u.” The mysterious message includes no caption and does not state who it’s from. According to Seventeen, the text message bubble is in gray, indicating that the message was sent to Cyrus from someone else.
It’s also possible that the text came from a family member or a friend, but it’s likely that Miley would have included that important piece of information. The singer has been since linked to Jared Leto and Victoria’s Secret Angel Stella Maxwell. As for Liam, he hooked up with his Hunger Games costar Jennifer Lawrence, according to J.Law herself. He was previously linked to Eiza Gonzales and Nina Dobrev.
This Christmas song comes less than a week after Cyrus finished her Milky Milky Milk tour with the Flaming Lips. The tour featured the former pop star wearing a variety of wild and bizarre costumes, including a strap-on and prosthetic breasts. This very short nightclub tour was in support of her latest album, Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz.
This isn’t the first time that the Flaming Lips created a strange Christmas song. Wayne Coyne and his band have released a variety of holiday songs over the years, including their 2003 song “A Change at Christmas (Say It Isn’t So)” and their 2007 EP Atlas Eets Christmas.
Miley isn’t the only one who released a sad Christmas song this week. LCD Soundsystem released “Christmas Will Break Your Heart” a few hours earlier, surprising their own fans.
