‘Outlander’ Stars Sam Heughan And Caitriona Balfe Answer Fans Most Burning Question About Season 2

Outlander stars Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan recently treated fans to an early holiday gift when the two stars took part in a live Q&A session on social media. During the event, which took place on the official Facebook page for hit series, Balfe and Heughan answered a myriad of questions from fans, revealing a number of exciting developments about the show’s new season.

For starters, everyone’s favorite Outlander couple showed up for the interview in full character, including Heughan as Jamie Fraser and Balfe as Claire Fraser. According to Christian Today, Heughan sported a clean white top with a vest and, of course, his kilt. At the same time, Balfe was wearing a white sweater with a pair of jeans. Both actors had just finished production for the day when they joined fans online.

Speaking of production, Balfe revealed that they were working on “filming the last day of the penultimate block” just prior to the interview. This means that production for Episodes 8 through 11 were just about completed. Further, Balfe revealed that they were still waiting on the script for Episode 13 to arrive.

Meanwhile, on a more playful note, the two were asked what they most wanted for Christmas. In reply, Heughan stated, “The Outlander season 1 DVD, which we got for a present from production!”

At the same time, Heughan and Balfe also dished out some details concerning the trailer for the second season, which was just recently released. Although Heughan explained how the trailer was meant to include a number of outdoor shots of the Scottish countryside, Balfe stated that delays caused by weather made it difficult to shoot anything outdoors.

The new season of Outlander is set to feature Jamie and Claire making their way to Paris, France, in order to prevent the Jacobite rebellion. With that in mind, the cast and crew have been to a number of different shooting locations for Season 2, including Prague, where the Paris scenes took place.

“It was quite dramatic wasn’t it? And looks spectacular,” Heughan stated in regards to the Paris scenes.

In addition to the news on production, Heughan and Balfe also expressed how thrilled they were to see how many fans the show has managed to win over in its first season.

“We had no idea how big this was and how lucky we are to be able to do this job. It’s fantastic,” Heughan told fans.

Meanwhile, apart from the revelations during the Q&A session, Fashion & Style is reporting that new promotion images of the new season have been released. The images include one of Frank Randall’s genealogy written on a piece of paper, a random jar that might very well belong to Master Raymond, and a shot of Jamie and Murtagh walking through the streets of Paris.

In other developments, the network recently announced that Richard Rankin is set to play the role of Roger Wakefield in the upcoming season. In celebration of the announcement, Rankin took to Twitter to express his excitement at being a part of such a hit show like Outlander.

“Hugely excited to be joining the Outlander family,” the actor wrote. “An amazing production filled with truly wonderful people and the best fans around.”

The role of Roger Wakefield was one of a few parts that had yet to be cast for the new season. In fact, fans are still waiting for an announcement regarding the casting of Claire’s daughter, Brianna, in Season 2 of Outlander. Hopefully, it won’t be long before Starz announces which actress will be playing the coveted role.

The second season of Outlander is set to premiere in the spring of 2016.
