Celebrities known for adopting their children have gotten praise in recent years. But now, two new celebrity adoption announcements are getting another kind of reaction for very different reasons. Teen Mom star Farrah Abraham has announced her plans to adopt amid growing reports that the Duggars have decided to add to their 19 Kids And Counting by making it 20.
Farrah has officially confirmed the adoption reports about her decision to have a second child. Abraham, who stars in Teen Mom OG, told Us Weekly that she’s joyful about the choice she made to adopt.
“I’m happy to confirm I’m moving forward in my adoption process. This means I will be making some changes in my career to welcome a new addition to my family,” said Farrah. “Very excited and this feels so right. I’m very blessed for this opportunity.”
As a single parent, Abraham admitted she faces challenges. A Teen Mom OG Season 5 trailer reveals her trying to cope with the child’s angry outburst.
“Sometimes you’re immature, and you’re selfish, and you don’t think about other people but yourself,” scolded the 24-year-old, who also is known as an adult film star.
The clip reveals Sophia tossing items around and hitting her mother. Farrah has faced some negative publicity because when her daughter lost a tooth, she gave her over $1,300. In addition, Abraham has permitted the 6-year-old to possess her very own social media accounts.
Despite all that, the Teen Mom star claims that her little girl will make a terrific older sister.
“Sophia is in the right frame of mind and is very supportive as well,” shared Farrah. “She is very open and accepting to understanding that someone else had other parents, and we would be their second parent and be a loving family to them.”
Jim Bob & Michelle Duggar Plan Adoption For PR?
Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar have experienced a landmark year in their lives — and not much of it has been in a good way. Following the reports that their oldest son, Josh Duggar, had molested five underage girls when he was a teenager, the Duggars confirmed that the bombshell secret they had hidden for so long was true. TLC then cancelled their profitable show, 19 Kids And Counting.
And now, even though TLC has given the family a 19 Kids And Counting spin-off called Jill & Jessa: Counting On, it’s still Josh’s sex scandals that are getting most of the attention, as the Inquisitr reported.
Trying to figure out a way to turn the attention to a more positive topic, the Duggar matriarch Michelle and patriarch Jim Bob have decided that adopting a baby to make their brood into 20 is the solution, according to Radar Online.
Radar cites a source who revealed that the Duggars want the adoption to take place in 2016.
“[The Duggars have] been mulling it over for a long time, and they feel the time is right to get legal advice and get the process underway. They’re looking to adopt a child in the New Year.”
Boy? Girl? A baby from another country? The Duggars haven’t been famed for their tolerance, but the insider quoted by Radar claims that they’re open.
However, with all the scandal recently surrounding the family, some see it as a ploy to clean up their reputation. The scandal timeline began when Josh was revealed to have molested five underage girls. Two of them were his sisters, and the molestation occurred when he was a teen. But only three months passed before more scandals erupted, and in addition to the Ashley Madison site and porn addiction confessions, Duggar was accused of paying adult film star Danica Dillon for sex that became violent.
Radar also cites a source who feels that the adoption is intended to detract from what Josh did while shining up their public image.
“They’re a desperate family,” summed up that source, “who want to stay in the spotlight.”
