Lamar Odom Update: Is Former NBA Star Walking In The Hospital, Or Has He Taken A Secret Turn For The Worse?

Lamar Odom has been in the hospital since October 13, and finally, over the weekend, the former NBA player reportedly took a huge step in the right direction. Actually, according to a TMZ report on December 19, he took three!

As the source revealed, Lamar Odom hadn’t been able to move without a walker for the last several weeks, but on Thursday, “[Lamar Odom] ditched the walker and took three steps, shocking the docs.”

In addition to that, the source claimed Lamar Odom, who previously had a “limited range of motion in his hands,” was recently able to reach over his head and put his hood on. The recovery milestone reportedly happened during a visit from Lamar Odom’s wife, Khloe Kardashian.

Although Lamar Odom is far from a full recovery, he’s reportedly regaining brain function slowly but surely, most recently recognizing a hospital staff member. While that doesn’t seem like much, TMZ noted the behavior as “significant,” as he couldn’t recognize family just a short while ago.

Lamar Odom was hospitalized on October 13 after he suffered an overdose at a legal brothel in Pahrump, Nevada, where he was reportedly partying with a number of women. At the time, rumors of potential brain damage swirled, and some reports even said that Lamar Odom was brain dead.

Following TMZ‘s hopeful report regarding Lamar Odom’s recovery, a second source spoke out, claiming he was actually not doing as well as the report claimed. Instead, said a second source, Lamar Odom’s recovery has been allegedly exaggerated in order to benefit Kardashian and her family.

“[Lamar Odom] has made great improvements after the overdose, but he is not walking and unfortunately there is no Christmas miracle for his condition,” a source told Radar Online on December 21. “He’s still in pretty bad shape.”

According to the report, Lamar Odom is believed to be leaving the hospital this week and traveling to a rehabilitation center, where he will continue his recovery. As Radar Online explained, Lamar Odom’s medical team has reportedly determined they can “no longer care for him in the best way” at Cedars-Sinai.

“People close to [Lamar Odom] believe the Kardashians are completely spinning the story, trying to make it seem like Lamar is better so that when Khloe doesn’t spend as much time with him or let him live with her she won’t get any backlash. It seems like they are all trying to get ahead of the backlash that is ultimately going to come when [Lamar Odom] leaves the hospital.”

The source went on to reveal that the Kardashian family had filmed at the hospital in Las Vegas after Lamar Odom was initially taken to the hospital.

“From filming the night [Lamar Odom] first overdosed to sneaking cameras into Cedars, people in [Lamar Odom]’s camp believe there is nothing the Karadashians won’t do to exploit the entire situation!” the source stated.

Although there have been many unfavorable reports regarding the Kardashian family, the women have remained supportive of Lamar Odom since he fell ill, and judging by the photos published online and in the magazine, they have been there for him far more than his own family.

As soon as Lamar Odom was hospitalized in October, Kardashian boarded a private jet with her mother and sister, and remained at Odom’s side in Las Vegas for nearly one week straight before he was transported to Los Angeles, and since then, she has visited regularly.
