Bradley Cooper Snubbed By Academy

Bradley Cooper has a new movie, Joy, coming out in theaters on Christmas Day and he stars alongside Jennifer Lawrence once again. Check out the trailer here.

Design & Trend reports that writer/director David O. Russell, who worked with Cooper in Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle, revealed to GQ that he finds Cooper has matured over the past five years.

“There’s a certain gravitas now. Early on, he had a more boyish quality. Which we leaned into in Silver Linings. Over the last five years, I’ve watched him become a man. I watched him onstage in The Elephant Man three times – it’s extraordinary.”

Apparently, the feeling is mutual, because Bradley Cooper expressed at the Joy premiere how much he enjoys working with Russell.

While Bradley Cooper and his Joy co-star, Jennifer Lawrence, have been snubbed by the Screen Actors Guild Awards, which is a predictor for the Academy Awards, they still enjoy working together. ABC News reports that Cooper feels safe working with Lawrence.

“I feel very safe [with Lawrence]. I can turn my brain off as an actor. I think, having to learn that dance routine [in 2012’s Silver Linings Playbook], we really didn’t know each other at all. Talk about being vulnerable with somebody.”

InStyle reports the pair just attended the premiere of their new movie, Joy, and they both brought their parents as their dates. JLaw brought her father, Gary Lawrence, and Bradley Cooper brought his mother, Gloria Campano. According to Daily Mail, Cooper has also been seen out and about in the streets of the Big Apple with his mother, looking casual and enjoying some down time. No matter who he is dating, mom is still number one!

Aside from acting, Bradley Cooper has also caught the directing bug and is gearing up to direct and star in a remake of A Star Is Born. Billboard reports that the movie was originally going to be directed by Clint Eastwood, but Eastwood dropped the movie and now Cooper is taking over.

A Star Is Born was originally filmed in 1937 and then remade again in 1954, starring Judy Garland and again in 1976, starring Barbara Streisand. There have been rumors going around that Beyoncé is going to take the role as leading lady. But Bradley Cooper has told E! Online that this is “just a rumor.” Cooper also said he would be honored to work with Beyoncé.

“But with that said, I would be honored obviously with to work with her in any capacity.”

Sorry Beyoncé, but you’re not in quite yet. But Bradley Cooper’s directorial debut will include another movie, set to be filmed sometime in the near future. Daily Mail reports that Cooper is also set to direct the comedy Honeymoon With Harry.

While Bradley Cooper has been busy with movie premieres and visiting with his mom, he has taking the time for some charitable work. Page Six reports that Bradley Cooper was recently a guest at the New York City Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association’s Widows’ and Children’s Fund holiday party.

It seems that Bradley Cooper has no shortage of work in Hollywood, despite not receiving any Academy Awards nominations this year. Of course, there is no worry there because Cooper is sure to be a contender in future years. For now, he can enjoy his new creative endeavors as an actor and from the director’s chair. It will be very exciting to see what the talented director Bradley Cooper turns out for the world to see.
