‘Arrow’ Star Stephen Amell Says Season 5 Could Be His Last, Felicity Smoak Looks Alive On Instagram

With Season 4 of Arrow going strong, Stephen Amell recently hinted that the show might be reaching its end soon. The hit series is currently in its winter break, and while the show left fans with plenty to think about following a shocking midseason finale, Amell’s comments come as an even bigger surprise for many fans.

“We were always built to be a five year show, which is a very courageous thing to plan for when you’re just in the pilot stages of something,” Amell stated during a recent discussion with fans on his Facebook account.

That being said, just because Amell admitted that the original plan for the series only included five seasons doesn’t mean that the show will be end its run next year. It is entirely possible that plans have changed since then, and producers can find a way to extend the storyline well into the future. Given the success the series has enjoyed over the years, it would not be that surprising to see it live on past a fifth season.

Meanwhile, apart from Amell’s recent comments, the series left fans with a shocking midseason finale. In particular, the finale featured what appeared to be Felicity’s (Emily Bett Rickards) final moments at the hands of Damien Dhark’s group of thugs. However, recent social media activity seems to indicate that Felicity is going to make through the assassination attempt alive and well.

According to Fashion & Style, a number of Arrow cast members, including Rickards, Charlotte Ross, Katie Cassidy, and Amell, have posted images on social media that prove Felicity will pull through her ordeal.

With that in mind, Rickards shared a photo on her Instagram account that featured her character sitting around a table with several different cast members. Aside from Rickards, the image includes Cassidy, Amell, Ramsey, and Holland. The actors are sitting at a table at headquarters while all of them are either on their phone or computer and look plenty distracted.

Although Rickards did not reveal anything more than the photo, the behind the scenes look may be a clear indication that Felicity will be back to her usual self when the second half of Season 4 returns.

At the same time, Ross also took to social media to share some behind the scenes shots of her own. The actress, who plays Felicity’s mother, Donna Smoak, recently posted a photo on her Instagram account that featured her and Rickards posing together in red dresses while on-set for the current season.

“Behind the scenes pics of me & Em – courtesy of Mr @paulblackthorne,” she wrote alongside the image.

Along with the photo, Ross has come out and stated that the image was taken while filming for a future installment. Does this mean that Donna is going to remain in Star City in order to help Felicity recover from her gunshot wounds?

For her part, Cassidy has also been busy on her Twitter account. In fact, along with re-posting a funny shot of her, Amell and John Barrowman posing together on a Monday workday, the actress recently uploaded a picture of her and Rickards working on their laptops together.

“Women Who Work Together, Stay Together,” she wrote in the message.

Given all of the recent activity on social media, it would seem as though Felicity is going to survive and make it through the rest of season four. However, everything is pure speculation at this point as fans will not likely know the truth until the series returns to television next month.

Season 4 of Arrow is set to start back up on January 20 on The CW.
