Mother Of ‘Affluenza’ Teen Ethan Couch Officially Missing [Update]

It was believed that the mother of affluenza teen Ethan Couch had taken off and gone on the run with him, but now she is an official missing person. It is still not confirmed that Ethan Couch and his mother, Tonya Couch, are on the run together as fugitives. Authorities across the country will now be able to see Tonya Couch on a national database, along with her son, who is on probation for the vehicular manslaughter deaths of four people.

Couch notoriously got no jail time when his lawyer claimed that Couch had “affluenza,” which meant that he was too spoiled to know any better because his parents had never denied him anything.

According to the Inquisitr, after getting caught violating probation by playing beer pong and drinking, the still underaged Couch took off when called back to court to review his violation. By the time the court realized that Couch was missing, it was too late. When the police arrived at the Couch home to arrest him, the house was empty except for a pinball machine.

NBC Fort Worth is reporting that Ethan Couch now faces 10 years in prison, and his mother, Tonya Couch, also potentially faces charges for aiding and abetting a fugitive.

“Over the weekend, authorities turned up the heat on his mother, Tonya, who is now listed as a missing person by the Tarrant County District Attorney. The move will allow police across the country to see her in a national database, NBC News reported.”

Tonya Couch has notoriously supported her son in every effort to keep him from doing any time to pay for his crime.

“It really doesn’t matter if he flees the country,” said Richard Taylor, acting United States Marshal for the northern district of Texas. “We’re going to find him and we’ll make every effort to get that person back.”

The local CBS affiliate in Dallas/Ft. Worth says that Tonya Couch is now on the missing list.

“Tonya Couch, mother of North Texas ‘affluenza’ teen Ethan Couch, is on the missing persons list, making her part of the investigation into her son’s possible probation violation, according to the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office.”

The affluenza teen’s mother has not been seen and cannot be located. It is thought that Tonya Couch is calling the shots on the run with her son and, once again, adding to the list of the bad decisions Ethan Couch has made in his short life.

“Ethan Couch emerged into the spotlight again earlier this month, when the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office began investigating a video that surfaced online allegedly showing the teen at a party with several people playing beer pong.”

It is thought that mother and son put a plan together and left town.

“Tarrant County Sheriff Dee Anderson previously said officials searching for the teen believe he and his mother have not only skipped town, but possibly the country.”

The Ft. Worth Star Telegram is reporting that Tonya Couch is a missing person, but an arrest warrant has not been issued yet.

The U.S. Marshals Service, which joined the search for Couch last week, issued a wanted flier Friday. It says a reward of up to $5,000 “is offered for information that leads to the whereabouts and arrest of Couch.”
