Tina Fey, Amy Poehler Parody Taylor Swift’s ‘Bad Blood’ Video

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler don’t have any “Bad Blood” toward Taylor Swift, but that didn’t keep the comedic duo from pulling off one of the top parodies of the year during their performance on Saturday Night Live, according to Vanity Fair.

Returning to SNL as hosts just before the holidays, Fey and Poehler had several hilarious moments during the show poking fun at Hillary Clinton, holiday music, and Taylor Swift.

In the video, Tina and Amy plug their current film Sisters with a fictitious host Trisha Hogan – played by SNL regular Aidy Bryant. In answering a question, Fey and Poehler explain how they juggle their lives full of movies, television, and kids thanks to “a great squad who help us out.” After being asked if the squad included models and starlets, Tina and Amy turn to music to describe their posse.

Tina Fey stars as Powderkeg in the parody while Amy Poehler goes by Shortfuse, monikers that are akin to nicknames Taylor Swift gives her squad in the “Bad Blood” video.

Fey and Poehler include in their “dope squad” three different nannies, the waitress at the dinner, a mammogram technician and their “real-life” gynecologist, among other individuals. Fey and Poehler also include a few famous individuals with the likes of Amy Schumer, Gayle King and Robert Downey, Sr.

Aidy Bryant interrupts Tina and Amy midway through the video to explain that Aidy finally understands what they were saying before bursting into a rap. Fey and Poehler jump right in, adding hilarious dance moves and witty dialogue to Bryant’s strong performance.

While Fey and Poehler were the unquestioned stars of the performance, another individual briefly stole the show. Amy Schumer’s addition to the video was filled with funny moments, from Schumer’s attempt to a “slow-motion post-apoplectic walk” to threatening to sue Tina and company at the end of the video for an unexpected explosion.

Tina and Amy star in the film Sisters, a comedy that was released this weekend. Fey portrays the loose and childish sister Kate Ellis while Poehler stars as the uptight and recently divorced sibling Maura Ellis. The movie, produced by Tina, brought in nearly $13.4 million on its opening weekend according to Forbes, a decent haul for Tina and Amy considering one of the year’s biggest movies – Star Wars: The Force Awakens – dominated the box office in its initial weekend.

The video Tina and Amy parodied was a monumental hit for Taylor Swift, who won the Best Video for her performance of the song “Bad Blood” at the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards. After winning the award showcasing many of her squad gal pals, Swift graciously shared the limelight by giving her friends replica VMA moonman trophies during a get-together. Unfortunately, Fey and Poehler have not joined the Taylor Swift squad – at least not yet.

A parody by Tina and Amy isn’t the only reason Taylor Swift has been in the spotlight recently. Candidates and political advertisements have borrowed the “Bad Blood” singer’s name or facts about Taylor Swift to connect with their intended audience.

SNL has another funny parody of a popular song this year, too. Beyond what Fey and Poehler produced, Donald Trump showed the world how to make his “Hotline Bling,” paying homage to Drake’s video in the process earlier this year. That episode delivered ratings but little else, the Inquisitr reported after the show.
