Taylor Swift Spreads Holiday Cheer By Visiting Teen Cancer Patient At Home

Taylor Swift just ended her 1989 World Tour, but took time to make a stop on the way home. She visited 13-year-old teen cancer patient Delaney Clements, at her home in Grand Junction, Tennessee.

Swift is known for being a class act and always thanks the fans who helped her reach superstar status. Delaney is a mega fan, and had tickets for a Taylor concert this past summer, but the teen couldn’t make it due to her health, per the Gazette.

The “Shake It Off” singer made a dream come true by meeting the teen. Delaney had previously appealed to Swift about wanting to meet via a Delaney-style “Shake It Off” video over a year ago. The video begins with Delaney sharing how much she loves Taylor and moves forward with the teen busting her own moves to the Swift hit, accompanied by two friends.

While Swift is a star, Delaney had her own set of fans and supporters who helped the two to get together. A hashtag, #DelaneyMeetTaylor, was created, and social media users were sure to make frequent updates.

Delaney was diagnosed with stage 4 neuroblastoma at the age of 8, and the cancer has recurred four times. Recently, her mother announced that cancer has spread to the teen’s brain. After radiation to ease some of the pressure from her brain, Delaney will enter hospice, noted the Denver Channel News.

Taylor Swift posted pics of her meeting with the young fan to Instagram saying, “Merry Christmas Baby.”

Although Swift doesn’t disclose her visits to children’s hospitals and sick fans, they are numerous. But of course, the fans she visits record the moments they get to spend with her, per Billboard.

She also donates to various GoFundMe campaigns, paying hospital bills for those in need.

A fan once invited Swift to a wedding, but the pop star was booked for the date, so instead, she showed up at the bridal shower.

The reaction to her latest good deed for Delaney has been massive.

One of the pics shows Taylor sitting on Delaney’s bed, and the young teen appears to be overcome with emotion.

After Swift met Delaney, another hashtag was created, #TaylorMeetDelaney, and it seems that supporters of Delaney are even more happy that she is that the meeting took place.

Delaney has demonstrated and indomitable spirit, along with courage and wisdom beyond her years throughout a five-year battle with cancer. Recently, she shared some of her innermost thoughts in a video for the The Truth 365, a documentary and social media campaign that gives children who have cancer an opportunity to share their feelings.

In the above YouTube video, Delaney talks about everything from her family to what she wants to wear at her funeral, in the event that she doesn’t survive. She also speaks on how she wants to be remembered and the inscription on her tomb stone.

Meeting Taylor Swift was one of Delaney’s wishes, and fortunately, it was fulfilled.
