‘Arrow’ Star Stephen Amell Leaving After Season 4 To Play A Marvel Character On The Big Screen?

Stephen Amell, who plays the lead hero in the hit series Arrow, has really seen his career in Hollywood take off this year. Along with his role on Arrow, Amell is slated to appear in the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie. With Amell clearly willing to take his talents to the big screen, is there a possibility that he will leave Arrow in the near future for a spot in the Marvel Cinematic Universe?

According to Digital Spy, Amell recently took to social media to answer some fan generated questions, which included close to 90,000 inquiries. During the lengthy and highly entertaining video, Amell was asked about the possibility of playing a Marvel Comics hero. Surprisingly, Amell stated that he was more than willing to take on a part in the Marvel Cinematic Universe if he was approached with an offer.

“Sure, why not? I’m up for roles – movie roles,” Amell revealed in the video. “Although I’ve never really read Marvel Comics and I was always a DC guy even before I was a DC Guy. But it’s not like if I got offered an awesome Marvel superhero, I’d be like ‘No, I can’t.'”

Amell has been a part of Arrow for all four seasons of the show, which debuted back in 2012. Although Amell is clearly open to taking a role with Marvel, it is not clear if he would be willing to sacrifice his role on Arrow in order to make that happen. However, there is always the possibility that Marvel could reach an agreement with Amell and allow the actor to remain on Arrow.

According to Movie Pilot, if Marvel did decide to bring Amell into its fold then there are a few superheroes that would be a good fit for the Arrow star. For starters, Amell bears a striking resemblance to the Marvel villain turned good guy Nighthawk.

Although the character has yet to be included in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the release of Doctor Strange and The Defenders should offer the studio plenty of opportunities to feature the character. Given Amell’s experience in Arrow, his take on Nighthawk would certainly be fun to see, especially considering Nighthawk’s similarities to Oliver Queen.

At the same time, Stephen Amell could also have a shot at being included in the upcoming Guardians of Galaxy film. In particular, Amell would be a great pick for the role of Adam Warlock, who might be making his way on to the big screens as more and more Infinity Gems start to surface. If Amell did take this role, then it would also open up the possibility for him to star in more Marvel movies in the future.

Lastly, though admittedly less of a possibility, it would be interesting to see Amell as the new Punisher. The role of Frank Castle would make sense for the actor, especially given his character’s militaristic nature in Arrow. However, Marvel has to announce any future plans for the Punisher, making it seem unlikely that Amell would take up the part.

That being said, Amell’s recent comments make it clear that he is a DC guy at heart. With DC and Marvel locked in a never ending struggle for supremacy in the realm of superhero movies, it isn’t likely that Amell will be leaving Arrow any time soon. Unless, of course, he becomes the first actor to play a large role in both the DC Extended Universe and the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

With Arrow currently in its winter break, fans will have plenty of time to ponder Amell’s future until the hit series returns to television in 2016.
