Rihanna Gives Private Concert at Karaoke Party, But Did She Sing Songs From ‘Anti’?

Rihanna practically gave her friends and family a private concert when they had a karaoke party at Giorgio Baldi in Santa Monica, California on Friday night, E! Online reports.

“Rihanna arrived at 9 p.m. with her mom. She didn’t rent out the restaurant but had a private room with about 20 people including her manager, niece, and best friend,” an insider said to E! News.

The Bajan superstar wore a spaghetti-strapped red dress and huge circle shades to the party with her friends and family.

“There weren’t any other famous faces recognized. They set up karaoke in the private room and many of her friends sang but Rihanna dominated, anyone in the area would have thought they were getting a private concert. It was like a private concert,” the insider added. The source also confirmed that Rihanna performed her hit songs like “Diamonds” but there’s no word on whether she sangs songs off her upcoming album, Anti.

Anti, the long awaited follow-up to Rihanna’s last album, Unapologetic, has been mired in delays which has Rihanna’s fans wondering whether it is ever going to come out. In an interview with BBC Radio 2, singer and songwriter Sia admitted that Rihanna had recently met with her to choose songs for her album.

“The other night she came over and listened to half of 25 songs I played her because she’s still looking for songs for her new album,” Sia said. “She was there clearly to listen to songs and see if there was anything that she was into. It was a business, like, meeting, for sure. She took four.” Sia has written songs for Rihanna in the past, including “Diamonds.”

If Rihanna is still choosing songs, when can fans expect to hear the album? No one really knows. To reward her patient fans Rihanna has been giving out free ticket to her Anti world tour which starts next year. As Complex.com reports, fans from Boston, Chicago, and Dallas were reportedly summoned to secret locations where they received keys and were told that they would unlock something in the future.

According to Complex, that “something” is actually free tickets to the Anti World Tour. The Tour will feature rapper Travis Scott, The Weeknd and Big Sean, and it is scheduled to begin on February 26, 2016 in California. Tickets for the shows began selling on December 3. Rihanna also launched a mobile website, called Antidiary.com, which is meant to give fans insight into the creative journey she took to create the new album.

Since the app launched, fans have been able to unlock rooms, giving them a virtual-reality like experience. Fans can explore the rooms by moving their phones around. One of the rooms looks like a child’s bedroom. Perhaps it’s meant to represent Rihanna’s childhood? As Fuse reports, in that room you can see a lot of unusual images like a moving rocking horse, a little girl playing a piano and a young girl with a crown over her eyes, similar to the images on the Anti album cover art. The most recent room that’s been unlocked features Rihanna, lying in a bathtub, with a full face of makeup.

You can overhear instrumental music as you go through the app and one wonders if those are the songs from the new album.

Rihanna has partnered with Samsung to create AntiDiary. The $25 million dollar deal with Samsung also covers album sponsorship and world tour support, Business Insider reports. The deal recalls Samsung’s partnership with Jay Z during the lead up to the release of his last album Magna Carta Holy Grail. The deal allowed Samsung customers to download the album early and to watch behind the scenes video.
