Matthew Perry And Courteney Cox Are Not Dating, Reports Denied After Rumors Swirl

Friends fans were absolutely thrilled when they heard that real life co-stars Courteney Cox and Matthew Perry might be dating. It was the second best way for fans to see what their characters, Monica and Chandler, were up to. Of course, on the show, the two ended up married and adoptive parents to two adorable babies, so is life imitating art? Sorry to burst your bubble, but not exactly.

Perry and Cox are not starting up a romance. According to E!, a source told them the rumors that they’re dating in real life are simply “not true” and that the reports that they’re “hooking up” is “simply false.”

According to the original report, it was said that Matthew Perry and Courteney Cox were shacking up together after Cox split from Snow Patrol musician Johnny McDaid. The two had been engaged for a year after about six months of dating, and decided to end their engagement. They announced their split on December 1. It only took a few weeks before the rumor mill started since both Courteney and Matthew are single.

The original report came from Star magazine, which should just give you a hint about the validity of the report to begin with. The report said that in the wake of her split from McDaid, Courteney leaned on Matthew Perry for support, just like he had when he was struggling with his addiction.

“It’s no surprise that Matthew was one of the first people Courteney called when she ended the engagement.”

“They’ve leaned on each other before, during her infertility struggle and his battle with addiction.” The “insider” continued to give the juicy details on Courteney Cox and Matthew Perry’s budding romance.

“Matthew invited her over to talk one night, and they ended up hooking up!”

According to the report, Perry has been single since splitting with actress Lizzy Caplan back in 2012. Prior to Cox’s engagement to McDaid, she had been married to actor David Arquette for 15 years, until the couple filed for divorce in 2013.

Fans were on board with this romance even before the rumors started to swirl.

Of course once rumors started to circulate Twitter was all a buzz.

Although these two aren’t dating, for years fans have been hoping that Monica and Chandler would be reunited for a Friends movie special or a one-off episode. The rumor that a Friends reunion is in the works has been around for years, and while a few people in the cast have flirted with the idea by participating in Friends sketches, and have guest starred on each others shows, it looks like this Friends reunion will never actually happen.

Back in April of 2015, Courteney Cox hinted that David Schwimmer, the actor who played Ross, her brother, on the show, is the reason why the cast will never reprise their roles in a movie.

“We’ve not really had a ‘Friends’ reunion. We’ve gotten about 80 percent there, but there’s always one person who flakes at the end. I’m not going to name names, but it may not be Schwimmer.”

“Dear Lord, let it go people. We’re not doing it.”
