Yolanda Foster, ‘Real Housewives’ Star, Defies Lyme Disease Skeptics Among RHOBH Cast & Ex David Foster [Video]

Yolanda Foster is dealing with Lyme disease and a divorce, and now the Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills star also is dealing with doubts from those around her. Among those skeptics include members of the RHOBH cast, as well as her ex-husband, David Foster.

But to Yolanda, her chronic condition is all too real, and the symptoms of Lyme disease have been so bad that she’s had to remain in bed many days, she revealed to Us Weekly.

“I spend most of my days in bed,” said Foster. “I’ve been in bed for exactly a year.”

However, David contends that Yolanda is making herself sound more ill than the reality, and questions why she never sought additional medical opinions.

“David and his family think Yolanda just loves the attention of being sick,” a pal to Foster shared with Us. “They believe she’s exaggerating her condition. And they point out that she’s never gotten a legit diagnosis or a second or third opinion.”

Moreover, a different source revealed that David was baffled as to why Yolanda stayed on Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, given her constant complaints of fatigue and pain. He’s already paid almost $5 million for the medical care that she’s sought, and thus the 66-year-old songwriter feels Yolanda isn’t doing the show for the money.

“He’s famous and private and rich, so it was frustrating Yolanda wanted to do this show so badly,” added that insider.

However, a friend of Yolanda’s insists that 51-year-old Foster chose to reveal her Lyme disease battle on Real Housewives because she wants to help others understand the condition.

“The sickness is very real and not fake,” emphasized her friend. “She’s being brave, and she’s a fighter. She did this season only to promote awareness of the disease.”

The mother of three (Anwar is 16, Bell is 19, and supermodel daughter Gigi Hadid is 20) was diagnosed only one year after she and David wed in 2011.

The couple shared their decision to divorce earlier this month, issuing a statement.

“We’ve shared nine beautiful and joyous years together. During that time we experienced love, friendship and the inevitable challenges that come with managing a marriage, careers, blended families and health issues.”

For Yolanda, however, the challenges of life are far from over. Foster also has had to deal with skeptics among the Real Housewives cast, reported the Daily Mail.

Taylor Armstrong contends that Yolanda’s decision to share her condition on social media is “a little much.” However, Foster said she believes that what Taylor said is the result of her lack of knowledge.

“I truly hope she never has to experience the journey she questions me for sharing,” added Yolanda.

Armstrong found the sight of the IV needles particularly distasteful. Those needles were displayed among the many pictures posted by Foster of her medical treatments for Lyme disease.

Among the scenes on a recent episode of Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills was one showing the women at a garden party and Taylor questioning the rest of the cast about Yolanda, many of whom seemed to agree with Armstrong’s state of confusion.

“What’s going on with Yolanda? I’m so confused. It seems strange that she’s like, happy selfie, sick selfie, happy selfie, sick selfie. And also, I’m trying to follow her on Instagram, but I don’t like seeing the whole needle-in-the-arm thing all the time. It’s a little much,” complained Armstrong.

Part of a recent Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills episode also showed Yolanda having a vitamin treatment via IV. Yolanda described her views of what Taylor and the skeptics had to say as ignorance, contending that rather than feeling offended, it made her more determined to speak out.

“What I saw on the show tonight was just that: IGNORANCE,” retorted Yolanda. “Maybe it should anger me, but instead it makes me want to fight harder and speak louder for those whose voices can’t be heard.”

Lyme disease results from being bitten by a tick that is infected. Symptoms range dramatically from rashes to memory loss to headaches.

Editor’s Note: The Inquisitr received the following statement from David Foster.

“Over the past few weeks, a great deal of inaccurate or baseless information has been reported claiming to represent my thoughts and feelings. It is painful to watch this happen repeatedly – especially while trying to cope with the personal nature of the challenges surrounding the breakup of our loving marriage.

I have always had and continue to have the utmost respect and love for Yolanda, which is why it is so frustrating to see headlines questioning her chronic debilitating illness.

I have been by Yolanda’s side over the past four years to the best of my ability as she battled with the complexities of her Lyme diagnosis. I am incredibly proud of Yolanda’s determination and mission to find a cure, and how brave and open she has been by sharing her story in the hopes of changing the future for others.”
