Zendaya Wears See-Through Skirt To ‘The Force Awakens’ Premiere: 5 Times She’s Been A ‘Star Wars’ Character
The fierce was strong with Zendaya Coleman at the premiere of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Hollywood’s hottest teen fashionista tried to recreate the look of a galaxy far, far away on her thighs by rocking a skirt covered with glittering, star-like crystals. Of course, Zendaya wasn’t going to bore her fans with just any ol’ bedazzled skirt. Instead of sporting an ’80s throwback, Queen Z gave her Star Wars premiere look a futuristic twist by rocking a fantastic plastic skirt that was completely see-through.
As MTV News reports, Zendaya got extremely creative on the Star Wars: The Force Awakens red carpet. The actress/musician paired two pieces that most stylists wouldn’t dream of throwing together: a clear vinyl skirt covered with huge rhinestones and a conservative turtleneck sweater. Zendaya tucked the gray sweater in, and it was just long enough to cover up her butt underneath the see-through skirt.
Fans of Zendaya’s funky fashion sense should love the look because it’s fairly easy to replicate. All you need is a clear shower curtain, a few bags of giant rhinestones from a craft store, a tube of jewel glue, and a long sweater. Zendaya’s see-through, sparkly skirt would look especially festive paired with an ugly Christmas sweater.
According to the Daily Mail, the prom-ish silver shoes that match Zendaya’s outfit so perfectly are Jimmy Choo heels. They’re perfect for a holiday party, but you might want to wait for Santa to bring them to you instead of purchasing them yourself – they’ll set you back about $900. That’s a lot of galactic credits for a pair of shoes that are so impractical that you couldn’t outrun a stormtrooper in them.
Some people might be wondering why Zendaya was at the Star Wars: The Force Awakens premiere – after all, she wasn’t in the movie. However, the K.C. Undercover actress is a Disney star, and Star Wars is now the property of the House of Mouse. The Disney princess might not be Princess Leia, but the leggy star definitely isn’t too short to be a stormtrooper. She’s also done more than enough prove that she deserves a seat on the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy, so in honor of Zendaya’s out-of-this-world The Force Awakens movie premiere look, let’s take a look back at some of her best Star Wars moments.
That time Zendaya got in a lightsaber battle
At Vogue’s 95th Anniversary Party, Zendaya rocked the same regal white that Princess Leia and Queen Amidala are such big fans of. As you can see, she’s also sporting a look that Jedi knights seem to be rather fond of: extra-roomy sleeves. People reports that the very Star Wars-esque dress was designed by Katherine Mavridis, and the torn shoulder is obviously the result of a lightsaber fight.
That time Darth Vader walked her dog
Zendaya made good use of the force by using it to convince Darth Vader to walk her beloved pet pooch, a Giant Schnauzer named Midnight (beat that, Luke Skywalker!). Doesn’t Midnight look like he could be Chewbacca’s long-lost cousin?
That time she updated Princess Leia’s hairstyle
And here we have Zendaya rocking the modern-day version of Princess Leia’s famous cinnamon roll hair buns. Carrie Fisher would probably trade her new The Force Awakens ‘do for space buns like Zendaya’s – during an interview with the Mirror, Carrie complained that Leia’s updated hairstyle looks like “a baboon a**.”
That time she looked like a modern-day Queen Amidala
The red dress Zendaya wore to the Met Gala totally looked like something that would be in Padmé Amidala’s closet, and the gorgeous gown even included a sunburst crown worthy of the Queen of Naboo.
Those times she looked like Darth Vader
Zendaya would make a great space opera heroine, but sometimes she also likes to embrace the dark side of the force. Here she is rocking a jacket that Darth Vader would probably force-choke somebody for and a hairstyle shaped like the Sith Lord’s iconic helmet. And the photo on the right shows Zendaya sporting a hat that looks like the love child of Vader’s headgear and Pharrell Williams’ favorite accessory.
Maybe Zendaya will use the force of her fierce fashion sense to convince the powers-that-be at Disney to give her a ticket to Tatooine.
