Viral Photo Showing Girls With Duct Tape On Mouth Removed From Facebook, Sparks Controversy
A new photo has gone viral today after a lot of people got upset. This picture shows the men in the family happy as can be, but the girls in the family have duct tape over their mouth. Inside Edition shared the details on this viral duct tape photo and what everyone has to say about it. This duct tape photo was taken by Hannah Hawkes Photography and was quickly shared everywhere. The mother and two little girls have neon green duct tape on their mouths and are also being tied up by Christmas lights.
In this pic, the father doesn’t have duct tape on him and is holding up a sign that says “Peace on Earth.” The son doesn’t have duct tape either, but he has a thumbs up sign. Of course, this photo was meant to be funny by the family, but not everyone is seeing the humor in putting duct tape over a child’s mouth. Some people are enjoying the photos and others are saying it promotes abuse.

The photographer, Hannah Hawkes, is the one who took this duct tape photo. She is now speaking out and sharing her thoughts on this viral duct tape photo.
“I have been called every name in the book, and have received some very hateful and vulgar comments and messages. I would like to say that as a female I do NOT and have never promoted violence to women!” she wrote on her Facebook page.
“I do not support abuse, or the degradation of women. My controversial photo was taken by request by the family, and was in no way meant to promote abuse.
“This photo was taken with humor in mind, and was meant as a comical Christmas photo. I personally know this family, and have known them for many years. They are not abusive to their children in any shape or form. Also, I would like to add that no one was harmed during the process! So everyone have a very MERRY CHRISTMAS and MAY GOD BLESS you and yours!”
In the comments, a lot of people are defending the family that did the duct tape photo and are saying that they know this family and they are very sweet. It is all about what your opinion is on the duct tape photo and if you think that the family took it too far. Obviously, they just meant it as a joke, but it has ended up causing a ton of controversy and upsetting a lot of people. This “Peace on Earth” photo did not get the result that they had planned.
Distractify shared that this “Peace on Earth” duct tape photo has now been taken down from Facebook. The thing is, it is being shared by people everywhere and is still being shown, just not by the original poster anymore. The post was originally put up on Sunday, but by Tuesday had already been removed.
As The Frisky shared, this comes not long after a woman ended up in trouble with the law for duct taping her dog’s mouth shut and then posting photos of it. People went crazy when they saw this post and contacted the police. She was even charged with animal cruelty for what she did to this dog. Maybe people will start to think twice about using duct tape.
