As might be expected, Donald Trump lead Internet searches during this evening’s GOP debate, according to Google Trends. Carson, Rubio, Bush, and Cruz all commanded a comparable amount of search traffic as well.

On social media, comments were made with regard to Ben Carson sticking to talking points he had recently committed himself to. At the beginning of his opening statement at the GOP debate, Carson asked those gathered to mark a moment of silence for the San Bernardino victims and then launched into selling his seven step plan.

Carson described the United States as being a patient in “critical condition” that can not be cured by political correctness or timidity. He stated that he specifically wants U.S. Congress to “declare war” on ISIS.

Earlier today, perhaps in response to his declining poll standings, Ben Caron released a statement outlining “Seven Steps to a Safer America,” which include a formal declaration of war on ISIS and amassing troops along the borders of the United States with Mexico and Canada. The goal of the plan is to “defeat the Islamic state and protect the U.S. homeland.”

“Our country faces grave national security threats. We must act boldly and decisively to protect American citizens from terrorists at home and abroad,” the release issued by Carson states.

Ben Carson says that America must not “dawdle” while ISIS continues to perpetuate terrorist attacks, engage in human trafficking, oppress innocent civilians, and cast judgements based on religion, as is the case with Syrian Christians.

The first step of Carson’s plan calls for U.S. Congress to act and officially declare war against ISIS.

The second step is the United States leading an international coalition of countries against ISIS in the Middle East, including nations “such as Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Jordan,” as well as providing “substantial advisory, financial and military support” for such an endeavor.

Carson’s plan’s third step is to begin “massive” training and recruitment of Sunni Muslims in Saudi Arabia and Jordan, including refugees, for a war with ISIS.

The fourth step in Carson’s plan to protect America includes supporting operations of Christian, Kurdish, and Sunni forces located in the northeastern part of Syria, the free al-Hasakah Province. Together with Arab allies the United States should “deploy its military resources” to establish a safe area that refugees can be directed to, and put under “international protection.”

Carson’s fifth step is to mandate a maximum six-month visa for visitors to the United States. This would include a regular three-month visa, which would include mandatory reviews before expiring, when it may be renewed once, for three months. Carson called on U.S. Congress to establish a “war-time emergency visa and immigration policy,” as well as appointing a special task force to review all existing immigration and visa legislation.

The sixth step calls on U.S. Congress and President Barack Obama to move troops with the National Guard to patrol the United States/Mexico border and monitor “designated spots” along the northern border with Canada.

Ben Carson’s seventh step calls on the U.S State Department to designate the Muslim Brotherhood and other groups connected to radical Islam as terrorist organizations. Further, Carson called for an investigation into the Council on American-Islamic Relations.
