Guess Who’s Coming To Super Smash Bros. On Wii U? Corrin And Bayonetta Join The Roster For The Classic Fighting Game

Wii U has been responsible for reinventing a lot of classic Nintendo games, and Super Smash Bros. is no exception. Word on the street is there will be two new Super Smash Brothers For Wii U characters soon for the game. First up is Bayonetta, the eponymous character from an action game on Wii U, Xbox 360, and Playstation 3. Bayonetta will be featured as one of the final downloadable characters in Super Smash Bros. For Wii U, and Corrin will join her as well. If that second name sounds familiar, it might be that you remember Corrin from the fantasy RPG game Fire Emblem Fates.

Instead of fighting soldiers, Corrin will now be fighting against a huge roster of Super Smash Bros. For Wii U characters that includes everyone from Kirby of the Kirby series to Lucario from the Pokemon games. The Smash Brothers For Wii U lineup has grown bigger with each new Smash incarnation, but the addition of Corrin and Bayonetta as new Smash Brothers For Wii U characters will be the last ones. Nintendo recently took to Twitter to give fans the first glimpse of Smash Brothers character art for Bayonetta.

The official Smash Brothers site states that Bayonetta and Corrin will be available starting sometime in February 2016. Players using Wii U can download Corrin and Bayonetta for $4.99 and $5.99, respectively. The two new DLC characters can also be bought for Nintendo 3DS at the same prices. Finally, players have the option of choosing a combination purchase that allows them to have Bayonetta and Corrin for Super Smash Bros. For Wii U on both systems. The final option will run $6.99 for Bayonetta and $5.99 for Corrin.

Everything known about the two new characters and how they function in the world of Super Smash Brothers For Wii U is contained in two preview videos on the game’s official site. At least twice in the preview video, Bayonetta is seen unleashing an attack where a giant fist made of shadow appears and slams the target character down (plus, she has guns coming out of her feet, how awesome is that?). Corrin’s Smash Brothers For Wii U debut trailer reveals a move that allows him to transform into a dragon, plus all the basic sword techniques one expects from Fire Emblem characters.

Both trailers are on YouTube as well as the Super Smash Brothers official website. Earlier this month, Super Smash Brothers For Wii U also introduced Cloud from the Final Fantasy series as a downloadable character. Cloud can be purchased on Wii U for $5.99, and comes with a new Smash Brothers map called Midgar, from Final Fantasy VII. Perhaps the most interesting thing about Cloud is that he will have a special ability called Limit Break, as Kotaku.com discovered. This ability works by charging a limit bar whenever Cloud gives or takes damage; when the bar is full, he can charge up a special attack for one turn.

Corrin will be available for all your smash needs in either male or female form, and the character can grow wings in mid-air as well as using abilities that change all or part of his/her body. Corrin’s Dragon Fang Shot attack can paralyze nearby enemies using either a bite or a shot of energy.

Bayonetta, on the other hand, is capable of chaining together combo attacks even in mid-air, giving her an almost Gannondorf-esque ability to attack Smash Brothers For Wii U characters who are jumping or have been knocked in the air by attacks. Bayonetta is also capable of an attack called Bullet Arts, which lets her fire a nearly limitless stream of bullets even while she is performing a combo attack. Again, this can be used to target enemies even if they are in the air. Bayonetta even has guns attached to her calves that let her shoot and kick opponents in one swift motion. Are you happy with the choice of the new Super Smash Brothers For Wii U characters, or will you hesitate to purchase them? Let us know in the comments below. Happy smashing!
