Joey Feek Cancer Update: Rory Shares Heartwarming Photo Of Daughter Indiana Washing Her Hair

Joey Feek has had a tough year to say the least. Not only was she diagnosed with cancer, she also made the heart-wrenching decision to stop treatment after she learned her cancer had returned earlier this year. While the Feeks have had to overcome some unthinkable obstacles, there is one person that keeps their hope alive, making each day worth living: their daughter Indiana (Indy).

As the Inquisitr previously reported, Joey Feek was diagnosed with stage four cervical cancer last year, three months after giving birth to Indy. She later underwent a radical hysterectomy and rounds of chemotherapy and radiation. Although she seemed to be doing better, Joey received the news in mid-October that her cancer had not only returned but had spread to her colon, leaving the doctors with nothing left to do. She could have continued with the chemo and radiation, but it would only buy her time, not the cure she had been praying for. With the help of Rory, her husband and duet partner, Joey made the decision to stop treatment and return to her home in hospice care to live out the remainder of her days surrounded by her family.

Since then, Rory has been documenting her battle with cancer on his blog, This Life I Live, sharing both new and old memories, as well as updates on Joey’s condition. Rory also shares frequent updates with their fans on Facebook. Most recently, he posted a heartwarming photo of Indy splashing away in the bathtub.

He captioned the group of photos by saying, “Indy’s first time to wash her own hair.”

In the photo, Indy can be seen with a head full of soapy hair, scrubbing it while attempting to not get the soap in her eyes. Needless to say, the picture is adorable!

Indiana isn’t the only one with a smile on her face. Yesterday, Rory shared a blog post called, “a gift,” revealing some very exciting news. Over the past couple months, Joey has become weaker and weaker, leaving her confined to her bed and unable to walk. However, on Friday, December 11, Joey surprised everyone when she not only got out of her hospice bed but walked from her bedroom to the living room to spend time with her family. In his post, Rory also shared a video of the touching moment.

“We had some friends and family here at the house with us, and when the door to her bedroom opened up and she came out in the living room, we almost couldn’t believe our eyes,” Rory wrote. “We were all so proud of her, but I think Joey was even more proud of herself.”

What happened next was even more moving. Since Joey has been confined to her bed, she hasn’t been able to play with her daughter like she wants to. Although Indy can spend time with her mother by sitting on her lap in the bed, it just isn’t the same. After Joey made her way to the living room, she gently slid down off of the couch and sat in the floor to play with little Indy, doing something Rory said she had been longing to do: be a “mama again.”
