‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Plot And Character Info Revealed

Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the seventh installment of the Star Wars franchise is going to be released in the UK on December 17, but little remains to be known about the plot and the new characters. Fans world-wide have speculated about what The Force Awakens has in store for the viewers.

The major storyline will still focus on two opposing groups fighting against each other: First Order, a militaristic government versus the Resistance, the rebels fighting for freedom.

During the Star Wars Celebration, it was revealed that the “Empire” has been renamed the “First Order,” and “The Rebel Alliance” is now the “Resistance.”

As for the plot of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, fans are making wild guesses based on the previous Star Wars installment and what little information they could get from the filmmakers.

Here are some of The Force Awakens theories making rounds on the web:

Kylo Ren (Adam Driver)

Curious about Ren’s mask and lightsaber? Speaking to EW about Star Wars: The Force Awakens, director J.J. Abrams has revealed juicy details about the character. “The movie explains the origins of the mask and where it’s from, but the design was meant to be a nod to the Vader mask. [Ren] is well aware of what’s come before, and that’s very much a part of the story of the film,” he said.

He warned that Ren’s lightsaber is “something that he built himself, and is as dangerous and as fierce and as rugged as the character.”

Rey (Daisy Ridley)

The Star Wars: The Force Awakens director revealed that Rey was ditched on Jakku by her family when she was young and the heroine did not know why her parents never came back. This piece of information from the director himself only strengthened speculations that Rey has Jedi blood running through her veins. Some have even claimed that she could be the offspring of Han Solo and Princess Leia. She could also be Luke’s daughter, which explains why she never saw her parents again. A newly released Chinese trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens revealed that Ridley’s character’s background is “classified.” Fans have also predicted that Rey and Ren are siblings.

Finn (John Boyega)

Is Finn a Jedi? With the teaser showing him wielding a lightsaber, some people think he has developed Jedi powers. Spicing up the plot, Abrams said he intended to keep Finn and Rey’s surnames a secret. However, he revealed that Finn “has learned a lot about Luke Skywalker, but he has been taught he was a villain who destroyed the benevolent Empire.”

Maz Kanata (Lupita Nyong’o)

Little is known about Nyong’o’s character aside from the fact that she is a 1,000-year old alien space pirate. However, Abrams hinted that Maz Kanata has “crossed paths” with Yoda in the past.

BB-8

How important is BB-8 in the story? Sources say the robot serves as a buddy to Rey, but were they always together? Was the robot sent to befriend the heroine for a mission?

According to rumors, this cute round robot knows where Luke Skywalker’s missing lightsaber is. One thing is for sure, though – BB-8 is a female robot.

Snoke (Andy Serkis)

His story has not yet been revealed, but as the First Order Leader, viewers can expect to see him with Ren all throughout the film. While the producers are tightlipped as to how the story will go, a children’s book reportedly leaked the movie’s key plot details.

The book called Look and Find is allegedly based on the sci-fi film. Speaking of spoilers, Harrison Ford dished a major plot twist in the The Force Awakens. Ford revealed during a Q&A with fans on Twitter that he liked Rey and Ren’s sword fight scene, calling it a “fantastic visual storytelling.”

We can only confirm if Ford was just teasing the audience or was telling the truth when Star Wars: The Force Awakens finally comes to cinemas.
