Nikki Reed Shares Belated Birthday Love For Ian Somerhalder

Ian Somerhalder celebrated his 37th birthday on December 8 and, while The Vampire Diaries star was besieged by fans hoping to help mark the actor’s special day, Nikki Reed’s remarks were noticeably absent. Now, Reed offers belated wishes to her new husband that seem all the more heartfelt for the tardiness of the gesture.

Ms. Reed may have been late with her public message of love for Somerhalder’s birthday, but she revealed thoughts that most certainly must have come from the heart. The Instagram post, which featured two birds kissing amid an illustrated “I Love You” image, expressed Nikki’s insights into her husband’s heart, as well as her own love for him.

“You are my every dream brought to life. With our hands pressed together I know that we will always find our way home,” the captioned message reads in part.

Reed goes on to describe the unique way in which Somerhalder sees the world, as only a wife could. The Sleepy Hollow actress goes on to say that she would like to see the world through Ian’s eyes, particularly the way in which he sees the coming of autumn and the changing of the season. The remark seems to indicate a moment shared only by the couple and one which exemplifies the love of nature shared by Somerhalder and Reed.

“Here is to the next 65 years together, holding hands, strolling through the woods, still learning, still listening,” writes Reed in closing the birthday post. “Happy happy birthday … I love you.”

The Vampire Diaries Actor Spent His Birthday Promoting The Ian Somerhalder Foundation

Ian Somerhalder is more than just the actor on one of the CW network’s biggest hits. When he’s not on set, Ian is working with ISF, an organization Somerhalder founded to educate the public on ecological issues, such as global warming and deforestation.

The Vampire Diaries actor shared a photo of his own on his birthday, one which shows Ian enjoying an afternoon by a lake. The image is intended to show his love of nature and his concern for the effects of global warming that are already under way.

“ISF and my birthdays are here and I find myself reflecting on the past 5 years and how far we’ve come together,” Somerhalder writes in the caption. “Please visit http://www.isfoundation.com/campaign/my-birthday-wish-our-dream. I’d like to share some special footage and an exciting announcement with you.”

Somerhalder has long been an advocate of environmental issues and his organization, The Ian Somerhalder Foundation, has been involved in conservation for over five years. The Vampire Diaries actor has expressed his gratitude to fans for their overwhelming support of his organization and the causes that he cares about over the years.

Somerhalder says the ultimate goal of his foundation is to create a world where every society is self-sustaining in ways that won’t harm the planet. Ian hopes to create a way of thinking and a new way of life that will create a healthier planet and a happier civilization.

“We all know that this dream can be realized if youth are empowered to unleash their potential,” says Somerhalder.

Programs run by ISF include habitat preservation, green technology development, green disaster relief, and taking actions in instances of animal cruelty. The foundation sees the world’s youth as the key to implementing global change and to altering worldwide consciousness.

Currently, Somerhalder is working on a new film project in addition to his duties as The Vampire Diaries lead. Ian is set to star in the Sinisha Nisevic drama, Time Framed, though a release date has not yet been confirmed.
