‘The Voice’ Season 10: Gwen Stefani Replaced By Christina Aguilera, Blake Shelton Upset?

The Voice Season 10 will not include Gwen Stefani, and Blake Shelton is not happy about it. During a new interview, the four current coaches of The Voice, including Stefani, Shelton, Adam Levine, and Pharrell Williams, spoke about the upcoming season, and Shelton made it no secret that he wasn’t happy that his girlfriend would soon be replaced.

Amid filming on The Voice Season 9, Stefani and Shelton, who also starred together during Season 7, announced their working relationship had turned personal when they appeared together at an after party for the County Music Awards in Nashville, where they were seen holding hands.

“I don’t want Gwen to not be on [The Voice],” Shelton, 39, said during an appearance on Extra TV, according to a December 9 report by People Magazine. “Why can’t we have a fifth coach?”

“I’m already so devastated that I only have three more outfits to wear — and that I’m not gonna be around these guys. It’s hurting me,” Stefani added, according to the New York Daily News.

Once Stefani steps down from her role as a coach on The Voice, Christina Aguilera will take her seat for Season 10. As fans will recall, the two women have been swapping coaching roles for the past few seasons of The Voice, and judging by the looks of things, they will continue to do so in the upcoming seasons.

While Stefani and Aguilera won’t appear together on The Voice despite Shelton’s wishes, the women’s relationship has already been a hot topic in the media. One year ago, after Stefani’s The Voice debut, a report surfaced, claiming Aguilera wasn’t a fan of Stefani or the attention she brought to the show.

“Christina is extremely threatened by [her temporary replacement] Gwen [Stefani],” an insider told OK! Magazine in September of last year. “She knows that if the ratings are higher on Gwen’s season than they were on hers, the producers may have no choice but to ask Gwen to stay on.”

Although Stefani’s temporary replacement was rumored to be turning permanent, that hasn’t happened quite yet. Instead, Voice producers seem to feel a regular cast rotation is ideal.

In other Stefani news, Voice coach and boyfriend Shelton appear to be doing quite well in their new romance. According to the latest reports, Stefani and Shelton couldn’t be more in love, and that’s been evident both on The Voice and around Los Angeles, where they recently enjoyed a romantic date night with friends.

On December 9, E! News reported details of The Voice couple’s date, which took place at Casa Vega Mexican restaurant in Studio City, California, on Tuesday.

“They were there with another couple and were waiting for valet for about five minutes. He kissed her twice and was pretty much grabbing her butt as he did,” the source explained, adding that Shelton “was square dancing to amuse the group, and Gwen joined in for a bit, too.”

According to the report, the Voice pair arrived at the restaurant around 8 p.m. and left about an hour later.

“They were sitting at the bar and were very affectionate during dinner. [Shelton] had his arm around her, [and] they had margaritas. After dinner they left together and went to her house.”

Another source told E! News that Stefani and Shelton were “good customers and wonderful people.”

The Voice airs Monday and Tuesday nights at 8 p.m. on NBC.
