‘Iron Man 4’ Cast: Chris Evans Wants To Be In It — Does This Mean Captain America Isn’t Dying In ‘Civil War’?

The Iron Man 4 cast could include the original Captain America if a recent revelation proves true. Chris Evans has stated he would like to be in the film if it does happen.

The Iron Man series started the whole Marvel Cinematic Universe, a figurative launching pad for what has now become Disney’s biggest excuse to basically print money. After the two Avengers films, it seems there is no stopping the release of a new superhero film every few months.

Even Ant-Man and Guardians of the Galaxy proved profitable, which were based on characters few outside the comic book fandom even knew or cared about.

Iron Man 2 and 3 turned out to be low points for the series, though, and Robert Downey, Jr. has been in more movies than almost every other actor in the series, except Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury. This didn’t stop the actor from telling Ellen Degeneres, on her show, that there will be a fourth one, as previously reported by the Inquisitr.

There is no solid Iron Man 4 cast yet, and IMDb doesn’t even have a placeholder page for it. As also reported by the Inquisitr, Robert is requesting a pay raise to be in the film if it happens. Disney has the money, but they may need to draw the proverbial line and re-cast the character. They did it with James Rhodes in Iron Man 2, as well as Bruce Banner in The Avengers.

If they do decide to give Robert the raise and make another solo film with him, Chris Evans has expressed interest in being added to the Iron Man 4 cast during an interview with Entertainment Weekly.

“I’d be happy to be in an Iron Man movie. We’ve been in so many movies together, the titles are almost, at this point, inconsequential. We all win!”

In an era where superheroes in the MCU are showing up in each other’s films more and more, it seems a strong possibility. It started with Nick Fury and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) appearing in Thor, and it’s continued ever since, says Cinema Blend. After Avengers, Chris Evans had a brief cameo in Thor: The Dark World, and Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk will be starring alongside Chris Hemsworth in Thor: Ragnarok.

This Iron Man 4 news could also mean there is a major deviation from the “Civil War” comic book storyline. In the story arc, Captain America is shot by Crossbones and Agent Carter and ends up dying attempting to turn himself in. If he appears in the next Iron Man 4 cast in more than a flashback sequence, this means he won’t be dying by the end of Captain America: Civil War.

Will anyone die in the MCU’s Civil War, or is it just a bunch of rivalries coming to a near-fatal head?

The storyline is already being altered by not having the Fantastic Four or the X-Men involved, so the character who jumpstarted the government movement that started it all won’t even be in it. Speedball, the man who would eventually become Penance, doesn’t even exist in the films.

The addition of Spider-Man (Tom Holland) seems to be the furthest the film can go toward maintaining the original storyline. Sony has to screen and approve it before it can be released for that reason, the reports Inquisitr.

The Iron Man 4 cast could easily feature Chris Evans if the storyline deviates far enough for Cap not to die.

One question that most fans would love to see answered if Robert Downey, Jr. does get his fourth solo film is whether we’ll get a worthwhile villain this time. When the villain in Iron Man 3 turned out not to be who we’d thought, some in the audience felt cheated. Could the Mandarin make a more fan-friendly comeback for the Iron Man 4 cast?

Much remains to be seen or answered about the possible fourth film in the solo series.
