Safyre Terry: Girl Who Lost Entire Family In Arson Fire Has Unbelievably Simple Christmas Wish

Safyre Terry is an 8-year-old girl who lost her father and three siblings in an arson fire. After enduring burns on more than 75 percent of her body and countless surgeries, Safyre has a surprisingly simple Christmas wish this holiday season. All she wants are holiday cards to fill up her Christmas tree.

According to the Toronto Sun, after receiving her first card, Safyre was “over the moon.” But her aunt, Liz Dolder, had to tell Safyre that she probably wouldn’t receive enough cards to fill up her entire tree. Safyre was so eager to see it filled that Dolder took to Facebook to publicize the little girl’s simple Christmas wish. She provided a P.O. Box to which anyone can send Safyre Terry a heartfelt letter of warm holiday wishes.

“BELIEVE BELIEVE BELIEVE,” says the post. “She did. When she said she can’t wait to fill up the card tree my response was I don’t think it’s gonna get filled up but I am sure we will get a few more cards. She BELIEVED and ALL of YOU are making it happen. THANK YOU…..FAITH LOVE HOPE TO ALL”

Since this post about Safyre Terry’s wish started circulating social media websites, her aunt says that she’s been inundated with kindness and holiday cards. And, according to Dolder, Safyre could not be happier.

“It’s just magical. She’s so excited.”

Celebrity wrestler Hulk Hogan reportedly took part in making the little girl’s simple Christmas wish a reality by mailing a card of his own. According to CBS News, Liz Dolder published a second post on Facebook just to thank Hogan for his kindness.

“It means so much to her,” she wrote.

According to the Independent, Dolder also published one of the letters sent to Safyre Terry in response to the simple Christmas wish request.

“Dear Safyre,

I’m sure you have no idea who I am, but I recently saw your story on Imgur, and it immediately stuck with me. You are a beautiful girl, and you deserve all the happiness in the world.

Your outlook on life makes me smile, and your undefeatable attitude is what makes humans amazing.”

As this letter shows, the story of Safyre’s survival has inspired thousands across the world. After the house fire, Safyre was not expected to make it. Her aunt claims the doctors were anticipating her to pass away at any moment.

But, as Dolder said, “She wanted to live.”

And she did. Safyre persevered through the injuries, the loss, the surgery. Now all she wants is a bit of Christmas cheer.

If you want to help make Safyre Terry’s simple Christmas wish come true, you can mail a holiday card with messages of love and hope to P.O. Box 6126, Schenectady, NY, 12306.

Or you can help Safyre continue her recovery process after the fatal arson fire took everything from her. A donation page has been set up in the name of Safyre Terry at YouCaring.com to help pay for medical costs and to help the little girl get her life back on track.

“I am asking every person that reads this to think about how much this family has lost and gave up to do the right thing and how many of you would be able to give up this much of your life to help this beautiful child as this family did.”

So far, Safyre Terry has brought in $147,000 dollars, far exceeding the goal of just $15,000. You can lend a hand to Safyre and her new family at this link.
