In WWE news, there are some issues between Bret Hart and Vince McMahon right now in regards to the Stampede library, according to Wrestling Inc.
Issues between Bret Hart and Vince McMahon
It should come as no secret, but Bret Hart and Vince McMahon are far from being the best of friends. It would be hard for them to do that after what happened in Montreal back in 1997. The two have publicly made up, but the belief is that it was simply for show. The hard feelings aren’t as bad as they were years ago, but there is still some lingering resentment and bitterness over the matter. Hart likes to say that he is over the situation, but there are times where his words betray him.
There are some hard feelings between Vince McMahon and Bret Hart right now. Once again, it involves business. Reports have surfaced that McMahon has been forced to remove Stampede Wrestling footage from the WWE Network. While World Wrestling Entertainment does own the library, Hart owns certain matches that feature him. Apparently, Bret worked out a deal with his father, the legendary Stu Hart, to own the matches. The belief is that a new deal between Hart and McMahon will need to be made.
Bret Hart cashing in
While some may blindly side with Vince McMahon and say that Bret Hart is greedy, this is actually a very smart business move by the former WWE Heavyweight Champion. McMahon is going to make a good amount of money off of the Stampede Wrestling footage for the foreseeable future, because the WWE Network has a good number of subscribers now. Despite most of them being out of the business now, the Hart family is still relevant enough to draw in viewers to the footage.
Bret Hart is semi-retired nowadays. The 58-year-old has a couple of business ventures, including a stake in a semi-professional hockey team, that brings in money. Hart can also command a pretty high paycheck from making appearances at wrestling conventions around the world. The guy isn’t hurting for money, but he also is smart enough to know that having more money coming in is a good thing. By working out a deal with Vince McMahon and getting a percentage from the WWE Network, he’ll continue to live comfortably.
Backlash towards the Hart Family
If there is backlash towards members of the Hart Family because of this new development with Bret Hart, it would not be the first time that has happened within WWE. The belief is that AJ Lee took some time away and eventually walked away from the company because of resentment towards her real life husband, CM Punk, for leaving the company. Corporations like to say that they are strictly business, but the human element always finds a way to rear its ugly head from time to time.
It will be interesting to see if anything happens to Natalya due to the issues with her uncle. While she won’t be pushed as the WWE Divas Champion anytime soon, she has been a staple of the divas division and a centerpiece performer on Total Divas. If either of her roles are reduced, then it will be clearly noticeable. Tyson Kidd is related by marriage and is out for a year, so he might be immune to the backlash. Davey Boy Smith Jr. is doing well in New Japan, so he is out of the picture.
How bad do you think the tension between Vince McMahon and Bret Hart will be if negotiations do not go well?
