Joey Feek Cancer Update: Country Singer Can No Longer Get Out Of Bed, But Gets Huge Outpouring Of Support From Community And Fans

Joey Feek is losing strength rapidly in her battle with stage IV cervical cancer and is no longer able to walk on her own, but the country singer is finding strength in her family’s love and the generous support of her community and fans.

The singer’s husband, Rory Feek, has been sharing regular updates with fans about Joey’s cancer battle. In a post this weekend titled “It’s Christmas Time,” Rory explained that Joey is keeping as positive as she can throughout the struggle.

“Joey’s still feeling pretty good,” Rory wrote. “Really good actually. We’ve been able to keep her pain under control for the most part and her spirit is just as positive as ever. Even more so lately.”

Rory said many others are standing up to help the family. He recalled one night this week when the family was all together with Joey when someone suggested that they order pizza or dinner. He drove 20 minutes to Alexandria, but found he wasn’t allowed to pay for it.

“When I got to the counter, once again – no matter how much I pleaded – they wouldn’t let me pay for my pizza (everyone there is so nice). But this time, the girl at the counter said the owner had left a few Christmas gifts for Indiana and she handed me a big bag.”

“When I got back to the house, Joey’s sisters and I opened the bag and realized that those nice folks had bought and wrapped 25 separate presents (they’re all different books I think) for Indiana to open… one each day from December 1st, all the way through Christmas. What a beautiful, thoughtful thing to do.”

Another person in the community stepped up to help Joey find a more comfortable place to spend her final days. Rory wrote that they recently moved into a bigger house, which was “another blessing from someone in the community who just wants to help.”

Fans are doing their part to support Joey and Rory as well. Many of them have left supportive messages online, offering prayers and encouragement for the family. Joey Feek has also relied on her family during the cancer battle. She has spent most of her time with family, including her 20-month-old daughter Indiana.

Rory said he and Joey have made every morning a bit like Christmas for their daughter, giving her presents to unwrap every day.

“This morning, she got to open her December 4th gift… on her mama’s lap,” Rory wrote.

But Joey’s failing health has begun to make even everyday activities more difficult. Back on November 29, Rory wrote that it has become difficult for Joey to walk, but that she gathered up enough strength to shared a dance together.

“A few days ago, the last day Joey walked, I took her in my arms in the living room and once more put her hand in mine and we danced,” he wrote.

Though her strength is failing, Joey Feek has also been finding inspiration from the small miracle around her. In a previous post, Rory wrote that Joey was becoming despondent at the thought of Indiana growing up without her, but then looked out the window and found solace in what was the first snowfall of the year. Rory wrote that Joey thanked Jesus, saying she thought she may never see snow again.
