Lana Del Rey is currently defending her property from pesky fans while waiting to see if she was nominated for a 2016 Grammy Award.
The 2016 Grammy nominations are announced on December 7, and Lana Del Rey is a hopeful for an award. In addition, Lana Del Rey is being awarded the Billboard Trailblazer Award on December 11.
According to Billboard, Lana Del Rey will attend the 10th annual Billboard Women in Music ceremony at the Capriani Midtown in New York City. Previously honored as Woman of the Year by Billboard, Lana Del Rey will hand that crown over to Lady Gaga this year. Lana Del Rey fans can watch the awards ceremony on Lifetime on December 18.
Sadly, Lana Del Rey may have to cancel her appearance at the Billboard Trailblazer awards ceremony if she cannot get her property secured.
Lana Del Rey recently bought a $3 million secluded Malibu mansion to escape fans in June, according to the Daily Mail. Unfortunately, fans found a way to break into Lana Del Rey’s new property, nonetheless.
Between mid-November and the first of December, Lana Del Rey had two separate incidents occur at her home where security boundaries were crossed by unwelcome fans.
According to the Daily Mail, “a woman named Icess Floyd was arrested for allegedly stealing the singer’s cars from her Los Angeles home just a few weeks before a man was found living in the star’s Malibu garage.”
As previously reported by the Inquisitr, the reason Lana Del Rey left her home in Hollywood was due to fans jumping her back fence to access her back yard. Lana Del Rey also frequently had fans camping out in the front yard when she was still easily found in Hollywood.
Despite the bleak nature of having her home invaded by fans, Lana Del Rey may have a glimmer of hope on the horizon in the form of a Grammy nomination.
So far, many fans have been predicting that Lana Del Rey will be nominated for a Grammy this year — and it will not be her first.
Last year Lana Del Rey was nominated for two Grammy awards, according to Lana Del Rey Fan. In particular, Lana Del Rey’s 2014 nominations were for “Paradise” as the Best Pop Vocal Album and “Young and Beautiful” for Best Song Written for Visual Media category.
Although Lana Del Rey was officially nominated for both of these 2015 Grammy awards, she did not win either of them.
Of course, there are plenty of reasons to believe that Lana Del Rey will get a Grammy award this year. For example, Billboard stated on June 26 that Lana Del Rey’s Honeymoon was one of the most anticipated albums of the year in their fan mid-year poll.
Rolling Stone says that Honeymoon was one of the top 50 albums of 2015 in a December 4 report — and ranks it as number 12.
Naturally, Lana Del Rey cannot get a Grammy nomination unless she submits her work. Variance points out that Lana Del Rey’s release date of September 17 only gave her two weeks to submit her Honeymoon album before Grammy submissions were closed on September 30.
Nevertheless, Lana Del Rey was able to submit her newest album and, on October 16, That Grape Juice reported that Lana Del Rey had submitted to multiple categories including “High By The Beach” for the Best Pop Solo Performance, and Honeymoon for Best Pop Vocal Album and Record of the Year.
Lana Del Rey fans are likely hopeful, but it appears that few are vouching for her in the predictions stage. For example, the Gold Derby says on December 4 that Lana Del Rey may not be on the Grammy nominations list. Instead, they predict The Weeknd and Taylor Swift will sweep the 2016 Grammy awards nominations.
