Anne Hathaway Almost Married Con Man Ex-Boyfriend Raffaello Follieri


In his first interview since his release from federal prison in Loretta, Pennsylvania, con man Raffaello Follieri revealed to People Magazine that he had plans to marry successful girlfriend Anne Hathaway.

“We were talking about marriage,” said Follieri, adding,

“I was very much in love with her.”

Raffaello Follieri was arrested in 2008 when federal agents barged into the couples apartment and snagged Follieri for fraud, conspiracy, and money laundering. Hathaway immediately broke off the relationship after learning of her boyfriends crime filled secret life.

Before Follieri’s arrest, he and Hathaway had spent a very happy 4 years together after becoming a couple when Hathaway was only 21 years old.

Raffaello Follieri revealed details to People Magazine that gives insight into what life was like in prison and what was going through his head when he was arrested by federal agents.

When he first entered prison, “I thought my life was over,” he says. “But I learned to survive by focusing on getting through one day at a time” according to People.

After their split, Hathaway continued on and didn’t let the personal drama interfere with her work as she went on to snag an Oscar best actress nomination for her role in Rachel Getting Married.

Now at a much more mature 29 years-old, Hathaway is in the midst of planning her wedding to long-time boyfriend and gentleman Adam Shulman and claims to be as trusting as ever despite the situation with Follieri.

“It takes a minute for me to let my guard down, but once I do and I get to know someone, I’m very open, very trusting. Some might say too trusting,” said Hathaway.
