Courteney Cox was spouting joy and love last year when she announced her engagement to rocker Johnny McDaid, but there are now rumors running around that say the couple broke off their relationship a month ago. According to Hollywood Life, an insider source said the break-up happened suddenly.
“They were going to counseling because they were having issues and fighting a lot, about everything. He just decided he wanted to separate. He hasn’t really given a reason, but mainly said he wants to focus on his music and can’t take the fighting.”
Courteney Cox met McDaid after being introduced by Ed Sheeran and the couple got engaged in June, 2014. Cox was so excited that she tweeted it to the world.
McDaid was also very smitten with Cox, stating how confident she is.
“Courteney is the most completely confident person I’ve ever met—at everything. She gets music. She gets art. She gets the way a scene gets constructed, the way dialogue works. And she puts it all together in her mind and then explains it to the world and makes movies that make people laugh and cry, squirm and jump, all those things.”
The source went on to say that Cox is devastated.
“She is really depressed about it… extremely upset about. She truly is just miserable about it.”
Wouldn’t anyone be upset and depressed about it? Despite this, in mid-November, Courteney Cox was seen out and about, celebrating the launch of her good friend’s clothing collection. Jennifer Meyer has created her first clothing line with Barneys New York, a brand she has been partnered with for ten years.
Meyer, who is known for her jewelry designs, designed the engagement ring that McDaid gave to Courteney Cox. Meyer posted a photo of her and Cox, who proudly displayed the ring. She captioned the photo appropriately.
“I guess he liked it so he put a Jennifer Meyer ring on it!! Xo #Johnny💘Courteney #jennifermeyer #engagementring.”
At the clothing celebration in Los Angeles, Courteney Cox certainly looked radiant; if she’s is grieving her break-up, she is hiding it well when she is in public. She has still been on the charity circuit, recently talking to People about her involvement with the fight against a rare skin disease that hits infants and children called epidermolysis bullosa.
“My friend’s son was born with EB. I’ve been a part of it since then. He’s 11 now. There is no cure for this disease. It’s just such a horrible thing.”
She also said it’s difficult not to feel for the children born with the disease.
“You have no choice to feel for these kids. The disease is very rare so need to bring awareness.”
Courteney Cox attended the 2015 Rock4EB! Party, an event that helps raise awareness of the disease and Ed Sheeran performed. She also was on the Celebrity Name Game in late October with her good friend and former Friends co-star, Lisa Kudrow. Just Jared reports that on October 29, the two were on the show and that Cox loved it.
“I get so excited about the contestants winning. I love doing it. I love the last round. I love today and getting to work with Lisa three times and that was the most fun. The other two rounds I feel responsible, so I just like to watch.”

It looked like a bucket of laughs, and it looked like Courteney Cox was still wearing her engagement ring at the time. At least Courteney has a great troop of friends and a full life to help her get through this tough time – if it’s even happened at all.
