Did HBO Just Admit Jon Snow Is Alive?

Spoiler Alert: Game of Thrones season 6 Details Ahead

HBO has been claiming Jon Snow died in season 5 when his sworn brothers of the Night’s Watch betrayed him, but the newest Game of Thrones trailer appears to show him alive.

The season 6 Game of Thrones trailer shows a bloody Jon Snow up and moving around, although possibly not in the best of health. Add to that news actor Kit Harington, who plays Jon Snow, has been spotted on set in Belfast and fans can be certain of seeing their beloved character again.

There’s no telling what shape that sighting may take, however. We might only see Jon Snow in flashbacks or other character’s dreams; perhaps Lady Melisandre will revive him or he might return from the dead as a wraith.

As fans have learned from watching the show: death isn’t always the final chapter, according to Time.

“If there’s one thing we know in A Song of Ice and Fire is that death is not necessarily permanent.”

In the 40-second ominous trailer for the new season, we hear a voice saying the past is already written as a number of characters, many of them Starks, are killed off, but we also hear Bran say we have no idea what’s going to happen.

This appears to reference HBO’s worst kept secret: that Jon Snow is indeed alive and Game of Thrones fans can count on seeing him again.

When the show picks up in April it will be venturing into unknown territory; with no more books to follow the show’s screen writers are on their own and fans are more in the dark than ever.

The newest rumors and theories about Game of Thrones season 6 have Jon Snow leaving the Night’s Watch, after his death, and joining forces with Ser Davos Seaworth to win back the North from the Boltons. Some major characters get flayed alive and we see Sansa Stark again.

Kit Harington has been spotted filming a huge battle scene in Northern Ireland dressed in the armor and colors of House Stark with hundreds of wildlings and Northern soldiers. Actor Liam Cunningham, who plays Ser Davos, was also spotted at the battle hanging out with the crew in what seems to confirm the rumor, according to io9.com.

An even wilder GOT rumor suggests filming at the Castillo de Zafra in Guadalajara will be used to represent the Tower of Joy in Dorne where a flashback will show Jon Snow to be the son of Ned Stark’s sister Lyanna and Rhaegar Targaryen.

A huge scene filmed in Girona shows House Tyrell along with King Tommen and Jaime Lannister leading the charge to free Margaery from the High Sparrow only to find her set free by the Faith Militant.

Afterward, it appears Jaime Lannister will finally make his trip to the Riverlands to squash the remaining Northern rebellion; a siege of beleaguered Riverrun is in the offing and fans have spotted Jerome Flynn, who plays Bronn, alongside Jaime.

Fans of the book will be happy to see the Ironborn’s Kingsmoot take place as the islanders seek new leadership in the form of Balon’s brother Euron Greyjoy, played by Pilou Asbaek.

Meanwhile, a massive shoot involving some 1,200 extras appears to feature Daenerys Stormborn with a massive khalasar; the end result of being surrounded by Dothraki at the end of season 5, reports io9.com.

Game of Thrones returns to HBO in April, 2016.
